Today's Prop 8 decision: You're following Canada's path to nation-wide same-sex marriage
Today's decision in California is outstanding, and is reminiscent of how Canada moved to legal same-sex marriage across the country.

Between 2002 and 2005, courts in one province after another ruled that restrictions on same-sex marriage violated Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms (our equivalent of the US Consitution).

Finally, in 2005, the federal government introduced a bill to legalize same-sex marriage nation-wide. The draft bill was first referred to the Supreme Court of Canada, to ensure it would withstand a Charter challenge by those who would oppose the new law. It's now the law of the land.

Congratulations!

1. It truly is the way to go. Relying on public opinion to catch up is not really going to work.
