Tell the DNC what you think of today's Democratic Party via this link!

The DNC wants to hear your candid opinions!

We need to hear from you as we shape the direction of the Democratic Party.

So we put together a survey to get your thoughts. It will only take a few minutes, and it's a great way to make your voice heard.

Can you take a second to share your feedback?

Your voice and commitment are part of how we elected President Obama. And they are the reason we'll be successful in making his vision a reality.

Click here to fill out the survey now:

http://my.democrats.org/DemSurvey

Thanks for your work and your feedback,

Jen

2. I told them to continue fighting the asshole Republicans,
and the media at every turn. Told them that the GOP/Media are the people's enemies,
and that the DNC and other Democratic organizations
are the only ones standing between our eventual serfdom
and the corporations, so they are gonnna have to stand for us.

Then I gave them a donation.....cause I know that I don't need
to cut off my nose to spite my face.....I'm frustrated,
but I'm not angry enough to have forgotten what Republicans winning will mean
to me....and it ain't close to good; in fact, the GOP stands for everything
I don't want to see happen.

Thanks for the Link! :hi:

How would you describe the current political climate?

The Democratic Party, along with President Obama have totally blown a lifetime opportunity. This survey is a perfect example of how far out of touch the party that I was a part of for 32 years has become. Where is the poor group for who people identify with? The homeless group? They don't exist, right?

I do see that you cater to Business Owners and young professionals. Good move Dems! The good Lord knows, business owners are not represented enough by both the Democratic Party and the Republicans. You do understand that I'm being sardonic, right?

Health CARE Reform, not Health Ins. Reform.

Real reform on Wall Street, not a slap on the wrist.

Real reform on NAFTA and the Patriot Act.

Real civil rights for all Americans, including the LGBT community.

This is not coming form just some angry 50 year old, I'm for real. I've volunteered, I've given money to Democratic candidates, I even traveled to Iowa in 2007 to support a Democratic candidate.

I considered myself a real political activist.

No more Dems. The way I see it, the election is in a couple of months, go ahead and wow me. If I don't see some real concrete action and change by November, I will no longer be a Democrat.

What do you believe the Democratic Party stands for?

I don't know any more. Slightly less assholish than the republicans?

The Democratic party has done nothing but cave to the right wing on every issue this session of congress. I give the right credit, they may lie, cheat and steal to make their points, but they stick together and follow threw. Democrats are so weak, they can't even call the rethugs on their lies, let alone fight for what they know is right.

Democrats have almost done more to damage the President then rethugs could have done in their wildest dreams. Democrats have caved on, healthcare, wallstreet, jobs, bush tax cuts, DADT and that's just part of the list. Threw their lack to stand up to anything, they have thrown the base that got Obama elected under the bus. They had better wake up soon, before its to late, if it isn't already.

LOL, I guess maybe they have been getting an earful and wanted to quantify our dissatisfaction
The other day someone from the local Democratic Party called me and asked if I'd be willing to knock on doors for them. I told him no and he asked me why not. Well, there are things that I wished that I had told him but was fairly satisfied with my answer of "you guys are enacting policies first proposed by republicans a number of years ago. If, when I was coming of age, I had thought that the republicans had good ideas I would have become a republican." My rant went on for a few minutes telling them of how I was tired of them capitulating to the right and cowering from idiotic statements made by republicans instead of explaining why Democratic ideas have worked in the past and why they are the best way to go now.

I can't help but wonder how many other former foot soldiers are declining to work for them.

As I said in the Progressives' thread that complained they are only courted now for votes in an election year: Heck, I'm a Big Umbrella/moderate-Left type who has NEVER been listened to!1

So in this survey I said:

* That what the party stands for is more like, what DID it USED TO stand for: Social justice, civil right, voting equality, civil liberties, taking care of the poor and incapacitated.

* That TODAY it seems to stand for Money about as much as the Rethugs do.

* That I don't feel listened to.

So. Yawn.

45. FWIW, I went ahead and answered but it'll probably be ignored

Here's what I wrote:

"What do you believe the Democratic Party stands for?"

I know what it *used* to stand for but not anymore. The Democrats have done nothing but capitulate to the Republicans time and again.

There are a some Democrats who are actually fighting for us (Betty Sutton, Sherrod Brown, Al Franken, Anthony Weiner, Alan Grayson, Dennis Kucinich, Howard Dean), to name a few, but they are few and far between. The rest of the party, including its leadership, is just shameful and embarrassing.

I'm angry because I've spent the better part of 20 years supporting, volunteering, GOTV, donating and voting for the Democrats, even becoming a US citizen so I could vote for Bill Clinton, and it got me nowhere.

Honestly, if I had known 20 years ago that the Democrats would be spineless, toothless and ineffectual with a majority in ALL THREE branches of government, I would not have wasted my time and money on them. A bad investment indeed.

"Why are you a Democrat?"

I'm not anymore. The Democratic party left me. I live in a state where I have to identify party affiliation and I'm sure as hell not going to vote or identify myself as Republican. So I'm stuck with the lesser of two evils.

Don't bother contacting me for any donations, volunteering, etc., those days are in the past for me. Why should I work for you when you don't even work for us? I'd rather donate my time and money towards promoting real progressive ideals and candidates, not the hollow promises made to me by the Democratic party.

55. Oh they heard from me. They're not going to like it but I said what I had to say

and gave them an earful for their push poll explaining that even though I care about those issues, they manipulate the results to support whatever corrupt corporate agenda they're pursuing because they put profit over people and stab progressives in the back every single time. I angrily pointed out that they need to "END THE FUCKING WARS" before I ever again entertain lifting a single finger for them.

I also told them that I'd been very foolish to let Obama fool me once and I won't fooled again.

My comments ended with "Shame on you".

Shame on them.

60. I was more elaborate in my reply
I brought that up too. They stab us in the back at every turn and then send out a push poll they can post on their "how best to support the corporations we love" wall.
