David Wolper (Roots, Willy Wonka, Political Documentaries) Has Died
Wolper was known for Roots and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but also made many political documentaries. He produced several "Making Of The President..." films based on the books.

I have a recollection of Mr. Wolper actually visiting DU a few years back and writing a few posts. Does anybody else remember that or am I just dreaming?

2. Somebody help me
In one thread I very vividly remember him talking of how he found DU and how much he enjoyed learning to use the Internet.

And HERE is his DU profile: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=user_profiles&u_id=145749

3. Did he write WIlly Wonka?
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 02:54 PM by RandomThoughts
The ending has a specific doctrine. It says you can do anything if you keep the secret. That was all Willy really cared about. I disagree with that.

It would be odd for him to post that kind of post and support secret group doctrines.

Thats the doctrine of being in a 'few' elite group, or intelligence groups also.

Excellent tribute - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dale-olsen/remembering-david-l-wolpe_b_678995.html

A five-and-a-half hour interview with the Archive of American Television is here. http://www.emmytvlegends.org/interviews/people/david-wolper
It's broken up by parts of his life.

Wolper won so many awards for his political documentaries that many forget he was the producer of Willy Wonka! This man was a giant.

18. Is there an option anywhere to pull up "all posts" by a DU user?
You would thnk I would know this by now, but I've never needed to for any reason. I would like to pull up all of Wolper's DU posts.
