GOP ‘Party of No’ Gambit Backfires — Voter Approval of Republicans at an All-Time Low

How bad is it for congressional Republicans? They’re even lagging behind Sarah Palin, whose approval rate is just 29 percent.

Jon Ponder | Aug. 12, 2010

From the moment Pres. Obama took office, Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and the rest of the GOP leadership in Congress have engaged in a high-risk, gridlock-on-steroids strategy — a level of obstructionism that is unparalleled in U.S. history, particularly including a record-breaking number of filibusters in the Senate.

1. And they've earned what they deserved from it.
Let's hope that such low ratings actually affect voting in November (given that the Dems in Congress have low ratings, too).

3. Considering the Corporatized, Privatized, Secret-ized nature of America's "voting" system
Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 11:14 AM by tom_paine
absolutely nothing is guaranteed.

Combine the fact that the Corporate M$M is already writing the script for the Democratic Wipeout in November, and nothing is assured.

As in the old Soviet Union, one can read the outcomes of "votes" by understanding Kremlinology, without waiting for all those pesky and likely partially phonied up secret, proprietary software vote counts

Sad, but true, I think.

Vote anyway, in case I am wrong!

But American Kremlinology is becoming a far better way to study and understand the nation that old assumptions about free socities which no longer really apply here.

Democrats, please vote in November - let's at least hold what we have.

Rec - thanks!

4. I totally agree.
If we lose what we have it will be hell for at least the next two years, and nothing will get done. Republicans will tie up congress trying to impeach the president, and repeal all the bills that have been passed so far. It won't work, but they will stop congress from doing anything at all, and then try and use it against the president in 2012! Even though things could have been done better, there has been a lot accomplished. If we let the right wing get us all worked up so we stay home, then they have won, and we have lost. There can still be hope of getting a lot more done, even with some of he DINO's we have in congress, but if republicans can spin it along with the MMS that it's a lost cause, and if the left lets hard feelings keep them from voting, it's all over.

I for one think we can continue to push for the things we want, and push to improve what we already have gotten, but are not satisfied with. There still is hope for change, but not with republicans in charge! We all have to make choices, mine is to try and keep democrats in charge, and keep pushing them to do better.

7. So far, they have been mostly wrong.
The incumbents have the edge...the only thing that is new is the Teabaggers splitting the Republican vote, or winning primaries.

Which is a good thing.
