Poll: 1 in 5 Americans thinks Obama is a Muslim

And the beat goes on in America's Summer Of Hate.

I'm old enough to remember the Summer Of Love.

That was better. This sucks even more.

Propaganda works.

on edit:

<snip>

The number of Americans who believe -- wrongly -- that President Obama is a Muslim has increased significantly since his inauguration and now account for nearly 20 percent of the nation's population.

Those results, from a new Pew Research Center survey, were drawn from interviews done before the president's comments about the construction of an Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero, and they suggest that there could be serious political danger for the White House as the debate continues.

The president's religion, like his place of birth, has been the subject of Internet-spread rumors and falsehoods since before he began his presidential campaign, and the poll indicates that those rumors have gained currency since Obama took office. The number of people who now correctly identify Obama as a Christian has dropped to 34 percent, down from nearly half when he took office.

1. Nice to see an article vertebrate enough to note that they are falsehoods and not just "allegations"
Didn't think any media had the guts to point out when a lie is false anymore.

3. I'd put the number higher, maybe 1 in 4
because there seems to be a pretty consistent 26% that can be classified as People who Believe Stupid Things. Study after study of silly beliefs like WMDs in Iraq and Palin's intelligence come out with that 26% figure, again and again.

The ones who are convinced Obama is a Muslim are the same ones who read a headline and think they've read the whole article--they see the middle name Hussein and think, "well, that's one of them furrin Mooslems!"

There is nothing you can do about the stupid 26% except realize they're outnumbered and hope for the best.

5. But do they think there's anything wrong with that?
It's interesting because I think this MUSLIN TERRA! meme is a fail. I know a few people (righties, talk radio listeners) who do believe it, BUT they all tend to say things like..."Who gives a shit!" They're more interested in the economy, jobs, no health care etc.

And it's especially interesting how the Political Class and M$M are attempting to stir up anti-Muslim sentiment among a citizenry that voted heavily for the first African American Prez.

LOL. Kinda Fail Dumb

12. my neighbor is one of them
his comments, so far this week, include:

"how come Obama doesn't have a church picked out and attending in DC?"

"i am watching to see if Obama eats or drinks anything during the day because it's 'raam-alam-a-ding-dong' for muslims"

Other than his extreme right wing views, he's a really nice guy...I have learned to tune him out when he goes off into politics
