"I've said this to David Paterson, I said, 'You know, get yourself a cowboy hat and a shotgun,'" said Bloomberg, blasting from the hip on his weekly radio show.

"If there's ever a great video, it's you standing in the middle of the New York State Thruway saying, you know, 'Read my lips - the law of the land is this, and we're going to enforce the law.'"


What the hell?
He won't apologize for his remarks. I find it disgusting that it is still ok to say such vile things as long as it is only against native Americans.
Am I wrong in feeling he should apologize? I feel even stronger given his recent speech on tolerance and freedoms.
He lost his whole message which was about cigarette taxes on Native American reservations because of this bigoted statement in my opinion.

1. I want to know what the exact quote was. What was the context

Was the connotation being the "Sherrif", or was the connotation being a "Native American" attack in the vein of a custer

If it was the later, then you are absolutely correct, it is disgusting

If it was the former, and bloomberg DID NOT mean the term in the form of "cowboys and indians", then he should be hit for insensitivity and stupidity, but not necessarily for racism
