I only got to hear the last couple minutes, but this pearl came out of it: U.S is now 12th among the nations of young people going on to college, and 30% of our high school students are dropping out. Fox "news" viewers?

No WONDER we are caught in the permanent stupid cycle...OK, not stupid - too harsh and unfair, since much of this is due to economic conditions; uninformed, ignorant, and easily led, is more accurate.

Perhaps Fox's strategy - although cynical and venal - IS brilliant...

1. unfortunately this kind of statistic will be used against

teachers and public schools rather than the corporate media where it more appropriately belongs.

2. Not only the corporate MEDIA --

corporate America, as a whole - esp. "Wall St." Yes, I agree. I was dreaming of a nation where, when those holding the wealth - corporate titans - learned of statistics like these among their people, their immediate response upon noticing the decline of their own youth, was to contribute much of their wealth to the education system and to these families. It is not only an act of generosity to others, but insurance of survival of the country they profess loyalty to (and that has sacrificed for THEIR gain).

Then I woke up.
