Don’t be duped by Dove World dimwits (Qur'an burners)
http://www.alligator.org/opinion/columns/article_3186ae5b-1a0d-5cfe-9a38-b9ef17106732.html

The real enemy of our disgraceful Gainesville brethren is low-priced furniture manufactured in Asia and sold across this great land.

If they stayed true to their ideological roots, Dove World members would don T-shirts bearing the slogan, “Particle board is of the devil.”

“Pastor” Terry Jones and his wife Sylvia aren’t too keen on letting this little secret out of the bag, but their entire spread is completely financed by selling vintage furniture — the good stuff, mid-century pieces bought in Europe and shipped over here where it can be sold for a princely sum.

On eBay.com, Craigslist.com and other web outlets under the business name “TS & Company,” Dove World’s outreach pretty much consists of securing a good price for its used furniture and shipping it across the country using the free labor provided by its pitiful army of duped dopes.

2. I t think it's the Muslim dimwits who are the bigger problem
Edited on Tue Sep-07-10 07:31 AM by Bragi
Seriously, the Florida dimwits have a constitutionally-guaranteed right to insult any religion they wish. No-one can stop them if they are hell-bent on giving offense to anyone or anything, as long as they don't break any laws doing it.

The problem as I see is not primarily with these dimwits, it is with the Muslim dimwits who think that the planned actions of this handful of American jackasses are actually a meaningful attack on their faith, which then, in their mind, gives them the right (even the duty) to protest and/or attack America and Americans, or do harm to any Westerner they encounter.

I think we need to keep this perspective as Saturday approaches, and more importantly, in the wake of the planned Koran burning. If people in Muslim countries go apeshit over this, then they are stupidly attributing meaning to an act that is pointless and stupid and demonstrative of nothing whatsoever. They should get a life.

As for what progressive should do, one thing I hope we don't do is to run scared and apologize to riotous Muslims because one group of religious nutcases has incensed another set of religious nutcases.

This is kind of what happened when there was the flap over the Danish cartoons. In retrospect, I wish every newspaper in the West had run those cartoons just to highlight that we are a free people who are free to publish insulting drawings of Mohammad or any other religious character whenever we want, and that we will not be intimidated or silenced because pious Muslim's decide to throw a tantrum over the actions of a few idiots.

3. I tend to agree
We have our fundamentalist idiots but for the most part they are engaging in a symbolic act of their own ignorance. The other side, however, is absolutely insane. Although I think they share a similar mindset, extremist muslims are infinately more dangerous to freedom in the world than our Christian whack jobs.
