Sitting down with dictators demonstrates hopeless weakness and naivite. Strengthening their tyrannical regimes just to make a profit, on the other hand, must somehow be good for America.

Bloomberg reports that a unit of News Corp. published mobile video games that were developed by North Korea’s General Federation of Science and Technology, part of a growing software industry cultivated by Kim Jong Il as a means to pump money into the impoverished regime:

“From the government’s point of view, foreign currency is the main reason to nurture and support these activities,” said Andrei Lankov, an academic specializing in North Korea at Seoul- based Kookmin University.

The piece also points out that more sophisticated North Korean programmers — aided by a growing industry in part funded by companies like News Corp. — may not be great news for the U.S.:

4. Keep in mind that Newscorp,
the owners of Faux Noise also produce a significant number of programs on Fox TV that rile up the conservative whack job bad word and titty patrol over at the Family Research Council.

Murdoch is just in it to make a buck, he really doesn't give a shit and half about the "culture wars" propagated by his idiot employees.

I think he knows that the Liberal stuff is what sells.

He knows he can't finance his evil empire running stations like PAX and The Hallmark Channel.

He uses things like The Simpsons and Married: With Children, Family Guy, etc. to make money which finances his right-wing propaganda outfits.

I was oversimplifying. Around the world he seems to like to prop up his RW news outlets with the entertainment side of the business doesn't he?
