Post Office manager apologizes for ‘poopy cake’
September 07, 2010 • 12:25 pm

By Diana Fasanella

A Florida Post Office manager was forced to apologize to offended employees after she baked a cake that resembled human feces because her office received a bad score from a mystery shopper.

The Cape Coral branch of the U.S. Postal Service had a “poopy day” according to employee Lucille Sacco, who said she’d never seen anything like the chocolate dessert.

While the cake was baked to lighten the mood after a mystery shopper gave the office a low score for customer service, it did just the opposite, ABC News reports.

Many employees thought the cake, which did not contain actual feces, was offensive and degrading to employees, who were understaffed at the time of the secret review.

A formal statement was issued apologizing to Post Office employees.

All poopy cakes backfire.

2. That's pretty creative--looks like meringue?
Some people can't laugh things off. Maybe that's why Mystery Shopper didn't like that PO.

4. Probably got the idea from the cakecentral website
They have lots of variations on the poop cake! To see the more interesting cakes, you need to sign in. I always prefer the kitty litter dump cake myself ;) yellow cake, topped with mixed crushed cookies and slightly melted Tootsie Rolls or 100,000 Grand bars, all served in a clean kitty litter box and served with a litter scoop.

5. She should take her act to San Jose
this statue downtown just screams for a giant inflatable dog to be strategically placed nearby:

It's purportedly the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. :-)

6. LOLZ
From my experiences - most PO employees sort of suck.

The employees at the PO in 4 Corners (Silver Spring, MD) and on Twinbrook Pike (Rockville, MD) are generally rude to customers.

Thank goodness for the Internet and the ability to ignore the USPS almost completely these days.

11. She should send it to RNC headquarters
Looks like a big mess of frosting to me. Frosting. Yum.

She could have done the same thing with a Baby Ruth bar, though. Lots less trouble.

12. I think it's hilarious.... but it depends on the spirit in which it was given....

If she had been supportive of them and offered this as a way to blow off steam and laugh about it, it should have been accepted as such. But if she'd been critical about the situation, I could see where this was like rubbing salt in a wound.
