Hungarian far-right want Roma forced into camps
http://www.euronews.net/2010/09/03/hungarian-far-right-want-roma-forced-into-camps/

Some Hungarians resentful of their country’s large Roma minority want them forced to live in camps. The leading far right Jobbik party has added its voice to others in Europe speaking out in favour of the French government’s Roma deportation policy.

Gabor Staudt, a candidate in upcoming local elections in Hungary, outlined what Jobbik calls public protection camps. He said: “This new institution would solve the lack of prison capacity.”

Staudt said he wanted to remind Hungary’s ruling centre-right Fidesz party that all the countries represented in the European People’s Party have “already realised these ideas in the 21st century; just let me mention Sarkozy in France, Berlusconi in Italy or an appropriate example in Finland.”

The leader of Hungary’s opposition Socialist party, Attila Mesterhazy, countered: “We find what Jobbik says unacceptable. I hope they don’t want to shut Hungarian citizens up in concentration camps. The worst thing is that the Fidesz government has not distanced itself from Jobbik’s xenophobic platform. It should.”
--------------------------------------------
Sounds like Sarkozy has the support of the far right parties in Europe in his program to deport Gypsies. Jobbik goes on step further and wants them put into camps.

1. How soon they forget the past
Lots of Hungarians were forced into camps just about 70 years ago or so weren't there?

2. If they do this, I will support an international coalition to enter Hungary to take out the Jobbik
and the Fidesz parties.

11. Gypsies are very a unpopular people.
I don't want to be too judgmental of countries who want them gone, though. They may have earned their bad reputation.

14. Yeah, I knew I would get some flames for that.
But I do wonder if there is something about their culture that draws ire from other cultures. I'm just trying to see things from the Europeans' perspective, other than to immediately label them as the bad guys for wanting to deport the Roma.

See how this works? We cannot allow this to gain ANY foothold, or we may very well end up here.

That is a far MORE RECENT photo of the Bosnian Genocide.

It seems we never learn...

And yes, I could have posted the usual WW II, holocaust photos, but these are in color, far more recent, and it seems people already forgot.

25. deja vu all over again. this kind of crap masquerading as some kind of rational commentary
has been the stock of "good germans" all through history.

of course there's always some kind of excuse for oppression. because people who oppress, repress, & exploit can't admit they're treating people badly: the people have to *deserve* to be deported, imprisoned, tortured, killed.

pure crap.

15. Oy... who said history does not repeat itself?
By the way RIGHT WING parties around the world are creating quite a bit of familiar patterns against (insert hated group here), and this could end all but well.

Damn, I was hopping to live my life without having to see this AGAIN... but alas we saw it in Bosnia...

Ah camps, have such a familiar sound to them...

But then again, so were the Native Americans.

21. IMO the key question to ask is, 'Who'll be NEXT?' Even Martin Niemoeller omitted the Roma
Edited on Tue Sep-07-10 06:37 PM by ProgressiveEconomist
from his famous adage (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiquote:Martin_Niem%C3%B6ller ), although the Nazis murdered up to 220,000 Roma, including every last one of the Roma they held at Auschwitz (see http://www.ushmm.org/outreach/en/article.php?ModuleId=10007755 ).
