John Boehner: I'll kill health care law
The man who could be the next House Speaker declared Wednesday he would kill health care reform before it "bankrupts" the country.

In a wide-ranging, hour-long meeting with the Enquirer editorial board, John Boehner said he intends to attempt to repeal or block funding for the health care legislation passed earlier this year.

"They'll get not one dime from us. Not a dime. There is no fixing this," said the West Chester Republican.

With the November election looming, Congressional Democrats are running from their association with the controversial bill "like scalded dogs," the 10-term congressman said.

...And if you think Boehner will kill it and replace it with Single Payer, you're certifiably insane.

4. He was Newt's go-pher...
As all the other House leaders (Newt, Armey, Delay) started falling one by one to corruption scandals, Boehner rose to the top. He's the living embodiment of the Peter Principle.

3. It's probably smart political strategy on his part.
The bill remains overwhelmingly unpopular.

7. Popularity at 43% as of August 31
That makes it nearly twice as popular as the Congressional Republicans

8. I don't understand why Boehner hates the bill
The health insurance mandate and the continuing ability of the health care corporations to profit from us would seem to make that bill a Republican dream.

9. He's living in dreamland... does he really think he'll have enough votes to change the law?
Besides Obama would veto it anyway.

12. I'm waiting for the chorus....
who will undoubtedly chime in to say how pleased they are that Health Care Reform might be dismantled so that now we can go back and do it right.

19. If Republicans take control of Congress, who is "we"?
I'm pretty sure the chorus understands that if the Dems couldn't get a decent bill through when they were in control, that it's certainly not going to happen with Rs in control.

17. No he won't kill it. He'll get smeared if he does....
He'll just kill the part about mandatory coverage but the rest he'll keep in because he doesn't want to be the guy who put wasteful spending BACK into Medicare and took away the preexisting condition clause, etc.

18. Who needs terra'ists when we've got
home grown whackadoodles itching to destroy everything good in this country for the further enrichment of the wealthy class. Boner's motto seems to be "Fuck the Poor". Well, "fuck the tangerine creep" is now my motto.
