Regarding Keith Olbermann, James Thurber and lemmings
I’ve read posts on DU complaining about Olbermann’s readings of James Thurber’s writings on Friday nights. Perhaps the world would be a better place if the likes of Limbaugh or Beck spent some time reading Thurber – or anyone else.

Many would never have heard of lemmings if it weren’t for Thurber. One of my favorite Thurber short stories is “Interview With A Lemming.” A scientist trekking through the woods runs into a lemming and they have a conversation. After a bit, the scientist says that he can’t understand why lemmings, from time to time, march into the sea committing mass suicide. The lemming responds that he doesn’t understand why humans don’t.

Try to enjoy Keith’s readings. Picking up a book and reading it seems to be becoming obsolete. There’s nothing wrong with reading online, but for those who haven’t spent time reading actual books, give it a try. It’s more rewarding than you can possibly imagine.

4. I go through several books a week, but I hate listening to someone else read aloud.

6. Absolutely!
I enjoy the readings too, especially having a long hard week dealing with knuckleheads, morons, repukes, and plain ordinary nutjobs, I love to see Keith ending the broadcast on Friday nights by taking us back in time, if but for a brief moment each week.

I have so many books in my collection I can't simply count them all. To me, it's relaxing, refreshing, and way better than anything else I could be doing on Friday night.

To see Bleck and Limpballs reading ANYTHING out of a book without the rhetoric would be a miracle. Those two idiots can't even read the Declaration of Independence without twisting it!

Wonderful post, Cryano. I hope everyone will take heed and consider the joys of reading like I do!
