Newt links Obama to radical Islamists in speech
forget the CNN headline - "blasts" :eyes: - the point of this is what we will hear until the midterms and probably after that.
This is the old rhetorical trick W used "9/11.... Saddam Hussein"

Gingrich blasts Democratic establishment at annual summit

http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/09/18/gingrich.values.voter/index.html?eref=mrss_igoogle_cnn

Washington (CNN) -- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich repeatedly brought social conservatives to their feet Saturday with an impassioned address in which he warned that America faces a dual threat from the Democratic establishment on the one hand and Islamic terrorists on the other.

"We are at a point where our establishment is sliding into policies of such disastrous impact that they will in fact fundamentally challenge the survival of America as we know it," Gingrich said during his speech to the fifth annual Values Voter Summit in Washington.

"On the one front we have a secular socialist machine led by (President) Obama, (House Speaker Nancy) Pelosi, and (Senate Majority Leader Harry) Reid, and on the other front we have radical Islamists who would fundamentally change this country into a system none of us in this room would recognize," he continued to thunderous applause.

Gingrich also took aim at Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who recently sent a letter to insurance industry leaders warning them not to "falsely blame premium increases" on the recently passed health care legislation.

"If she's going to represent left-wing thought police about Obamacare, she should be forced to resign by the new Congress," he said.

2. *Ugh* I can't stand that guy
I wish that he would crawl back into the spider hole he was hiding in from 2000(?)-2009. I thought that we had washed our hands of him after he resigned from Congress. :puke:

3. Doesn't he have a retirement home to go to?
Some of these old coots should move to some foreign paradise and leave the rest of us alone. I've never seen such bizarre rhetoric coming from so many. Are they on their way to senility, or what?

he should just go away. Get married, do something to make just one person miserable instead of the rest of us ;)

8. His basic split personality is showing much more these days
On the one hand he accuses Obama of being a secular socialist then in the same sentence has him as the most radical Islamist who would fundamentally change this country.

He's always talked like that. It confuses his listeners because he uses such a 'reasonable' tone of voice. He always contradicts himself in every sentence so you don't know what the fuck he's talking about. He only sounds like he's making sense and he's gotten away with that all his life.

13. "If you study history...."
that is Newt's typical opening line (or lie) then he recreates history in a way that seems reasonable in the context of the Glenn Beck world.

Republicans love the "If you study history...." intro- it implies everything that you stated in your post.

Great post.

It's pretty much the same BS, just a different style.

10. Equivication (sp?) is second only to projection in the (R) playbook.
Well, there are the outright lies and re-writing history on the fly, too.

This is going to get very, very ugly(ier).

But that's OK. The party hijackers are turning off the few sane (R)s they had left and forcing them to vote (D) or (I).

Real people with REAL conservative values - actual values as they equate to morals and ethics - can no longer relate to the GOP.

Quite an accomplishment for someone so unhinged. "Blast" is probably a better word; it gives me the visual of a kook on a swivel chair with a shotgun, firing off in all directions.

17. They seem to forget that it happened
on their watch. If it had happened while a Dem was President they'd beat the horse 24/7 and never end.

21. Privatize the Postal Service?
on top of the asshat statement (asshat because he exposed their nature) is... this is too funny... privatize the PO? They have no idea of the the infrastructure costs (real estate alone) that would have to be assumed in such an endeavor. The trucks...oy the trucks alone would get this idea pushed back across the desk at first sight.
