DU is one big family.
One huge, immensely dysfunctional family.

We bicker and fight among ourselves, we beat on each other with blunt objects, we threaten to kill each other.

But if any outsider tries to fuck with us, we turn on them like a pack of starving direwolves.

I don't think the hard core, even the "professional leftists" (whoever the hell they are) or the retarded progressives are going to abandon the party on election day.

That is not, of course, to say that the party isn't in trouble. It may very well take some serious hits, but it won't be because the left forgot to vote. It will be a combination of 3 things: Reduced enthusiasm that manifests as smaller financial contributions & less grassroots campaigning; massive expenditures of corporate funds in behalf of Repubican causes, and whatever vote larceny the Republicans are able to pull off.

11. Am glad there are others besides me bringing up this subject
every now and then. But even today, most states are
using Republican-made machines without paper trails.
I don't intend to give up bringing this up, though.

5. So by your definition what qualifies someone to be a retarded progressive?

9. If reduced enthusiasm subsumes a bad economy
I guess I can agree. The economic conditions are analogous to 1934, 1982 and 1994. The only difference is that Obama is facing open hostility from his base (I think much more so than FDR, recent posts to the contrary notwithstanding).

The lack of enthusiasm is easy to understand given the bad economy. Ironically Obama's stewardship of the economy is one of his better points, but voters don't reward the mitigation of disaster.

To a significant extent FDR, Reagan and Clinton delivered for their bases. Obama lost me at Copenhagen, because of what I consider treason against humanity. But there is plenty else to complain about, for example the acceleration of war in Afghanistan or the HCR (which is a license to continue robbing American health care consumers). Obama has been bad for my heart and my pocket book. I believe his inaction at Copenhagen is a threat to world civilization.

Other than that, I believe Mrs. Lincoln enjoyed the play very much.

12. Retarded progressives are people
who supported people like Bill Halter against Blanche Lincoln. That's more or less what Rahm called us.
