White House Coordinated With GOP Consultant on US Attorney Scandal
By Matt Renner
t r u t h o u t | Report

Tuesday 22 May 2007

Emails released late Monday by the US Justice Department show the White House hired a well-known Republican operative to handle damage control in the aftermath of the US attorney scandal.

Mark McKinnon, a heavyweight strategist whose primary company, Maverick Media Inc., did almost $170 million in business with the Bush-Cheney 2004 presidential campaign, appears to have been hired by Peter Wehner, director of the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives, which "plans, develops, and coordinates a long-range strategy for achieving presidential priorities," and "conducts research and assists in message development," according to the White House web site. Wehner worked with McKinnon in an official capacity, corresponding through McKinnon's company email account. It is unknown whether McKinnon was paid for his work.

......................

In what may prove to be telling advice, McKinnon's PR firm works with clients to "turn risky public situations to their advantage," and advises them to "pay as much attention to issues in the public arena as they do to running their day-to-day business," according to their mission statement. According to the firm's web site, political strategists make excellent public relations consultants because they "have the tenacity to stay the course, not just through Election Day, but well beyond."

.........
The emails clearly show that a request for talking points to respond to a critical column written by Joe Conason of Salon.com, was made by McKinnon as a consultant to the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives: " Do we have something off the shelf on this...?" referring to Conason's article.

3. Why do i feel like we about to see "everything"
stolen elections, Rove, Abramoff, NSA spying, slush funds,
stopping of investigations into repug corruption, and so much more.

bush & company are nothing more than crooks. The big thing now
will be media manipulations to hide the horror.

4. Oh, please let it happen
It's bad enough to go through this horrendous period with our clueless leader. But to know that he was never elected president of
this country. He was ordained as some sort of neo-con privilege as GHB's son, is frustrating beyond words.

6. I feel your pain
11/2/04 I saw "it" happen in Ohio with my own eyes. Every fucking time
I hear about how "he was re-elected" I want to scream. For the love of God
Blackwell ran the election returns through the RNC/bush & Cheney 04's computers
in Chattanooga, TN.

But we still have fighters in Conyers, Waxman, & Leahy they know what happened.

7. I saw it happening in Maryland as well
but methinks this would be the easiest way for the Pukes to slither out from this. They don't want an election next year, it's
going to be a rout. They are out of aces and the veto man is polling at under 30% with inflated numbers. Just come out and
bite the bullet, say the elections in 2000 and 2004 were not legit, let Gore be President, give him the Iraq War as a
bonus and join the chorus criticizing the Dems which they are good at. Of course, it would not be their "fault." Gasp, No,
just some overly enthusiastic volunteers that they will throw under the bus.

8. These people are red herring salesmen. Don't bite the hook, line, and sinker
"... Blackwell ran the election returns through the RNC/Bush & Cheney 04's computers in Chattanooga..."

is exactly what this sort of PR firm wants you to think in view of the vote-switching in Ohio, the voter purging, the long lines due to machine misallocations, the uncounted ballots, the challenging, the Blackwell rulings.

How many times does it have to be repeated, they are not RNC computers, just hosted space .... and so what. Let's focus on the election irregularities, the actual frauds, the civil rights violations, and the illegal purging.

Conyers, Waxman, & Leahy do know what happened, and, thankfully, they also know the difference between election fraud and a PR firm's red herrings.

9. you are wrong
the Ohio election returns be run through / hosted by / or "just went to visit"
computers in Tennessee that were connected to the RNC / bush & Cheney 04
stinks. What the hell were "they" doing handling that data? The Sec. of State
bought computers that were not up to the job they were bought for so he had
to send the data from Columbus to Richfield, OH (to get an Ohio address),
and then to Tennessee?

And yes i saw the study of the 6.15 % vote switch in Cuyahoga County too.

And I saw a "republican challenger" with a caging list working w/ a precinct judge
in 2004 in Franklin County

And i saw a letter a 70 + year old women got telling her she could not get an
absentee ballot after she had a stroke ... the letter looked like it came from the
Franklin County BOE but it was from some "front group."

I also chased away a "spook" trying to get in w/ a group of Kerry volunteers to
his state HQs.

10. Do you understand how the IT world works, hosting, databases, uploading, etc.?

How many times will it be necessary to explain this on DU until this horse dies?

You have seen the posts how many times now, and yet you drag out the red herring. What for??

11. you are right i have no understanding of I.T.
I don't know why out of x host sites available ( x = the total number of host sites available )
the the data from Ohio winds up be hosted by the computers that hosted gwb43.com, the
RNC, and bush/Cheney 04.

So what does x = ?

BTW why did Ken Blackwell not have a the capacity in the "in house" computers to handle
the election returns in 2004. Boy for being somebody w/ very small computer skills
it seems handling a very simple addition algorithm based on the vote in a state like Ohio
might be able to be done "in house."
