I Find These Dramatically Critical Posts Of Obama & Hillary Voting No To Be Monumentally Ridiculous.

First, calm down and take a breath if necessary. I mean that sincerely.

Then, please realize that the Dems would've known FAR in advance that there were MORE than enough votes for this to pass. Look at the final numbers. You don't think they knew ahead of time how it would play out? C'mon now, get real. They knew damn well how it would go and claiming they had to wait to ensure it would pass first before voting no, as if this was going to be some tight 50-50 cliffhanger, is all sorts of misguided wouldn't you agree? C'mon, think for a second. You'll agree.

They knew it would pass far in advance. This wasn't some calculated timing thing waiting with held breath hoping enough votes would be yes so they could vote no. The vote was a landslide. They didn't need to. Please, understand that.

One thing and one thing matters only in my opinion, as it relates to their votes: Which side did they want to go down ON RECORD as supporting; our side, or the other side? They picked our side. They chose our position. That's what goddamn matters. At least to me it is.

So please, ease up on them a bit. There's enough anger being thrown around already. At least try and direct it appropriately if you feel the need to express it.

As always; Peace,

OMC

1. I am.
That is why I am criticizing them, for their waiting to vote till things were safe, rather than leading.

I am hardly surprised, however.

Lots of people here are, well, pretty naive.

EDITED: Because I forgot to add that I do definitely appreciate their votes.

3. These people are asking for us to support them as leaders,
but they have less than zero interest in leading.

They should be ridiculed.

5. I agree it is bullshit.
They stood with the handful of other representatives of the people and voted no to another year of the Texas gang's criminal endeavors.

14. Yes another year at least.
Oh wait, you didn't believe that 'september' bullshit, did you?

Or maybe you meant at least another 18 months, that is for sure.

I see no reason to believe that even if the so-called opposition party wins big next election that they will do anything to end the war in '09 either.

8. These two are running in a political race for President
Easing up on the next leader is not something any of us should do or expect to do. Push and push... lobby your position as citizen. Be critical. Not being critical and allowing a pass has gotten us where we are.

Expect more, demand more, be ever vigilant.

And yes, I expect peace.

13. There was no plus for Obama and Clinton in this situation
Only a neutral (voting no) and a negative (voting yes). Both were smart enough to recognize this and vote the way they did. By doing so they preserved their candidacies for awhile. Had either or both voted yes, they would have dug themselves into such a hole with primary voters they wouldn't even be able to see the top.

So good for them. There will be more pitfalls like this along the campaign trail. The next one may not be so clear cut, but a sure footed candidate will be able to spot them in advance. If not, I don't want them as my candidate anyway.

By the way this is an old parliamentary trick used by those who preside over local government meetings (city councils and such). By voting last they can make a symbolic stand against a measure that they favored which has already gotten the votes to pass.

discuss their position beforehand in hopes to convince other senators and the public - you know - the way the senate floor is supposed to be used BEFORE a crucial vote.

So - isn't LEADERSHIP supposed to be a factor in how we choose a nominee?
