Look at how tax change will effect YOUR bottom line
From the Washington Post
How the fight over tax breaks affects your bottom line

Tax cuts enacted under former president George W. Bush are set to expire at year's end, and lawmakers are battling over whether to extend them before the November elections. Most Republicans want to extend all of the cuts, saying that any increase in taxes will hold back the economic recovery. President Obama and Democratic leaders would extend many of the cuts but say tax breaks for top earners should expire to pare down deficits. Each plan would affect average tax rates for income groups differently.

My taxes would go up approximately 3% if tax cuts were allowed to expire. I can live with that.

What would your tax difference be?

Annette

9. We've heard politicians read DU
so maybe they will pay attention? We can hope...

I wish the President would grab some television time on all stations to talk about it and lay out the facts. That could go a long way toward understanding.

Charts, facts, truth. It's hard to argue it when the President is showing you in prime time (although of course FoxGOP will attempt to spin it into their alternate reality).

I wish the President would override the media's choice of what messages and what version of messages they report and just grab the time and tell it like it is.

Still hoping...

I agree with you. I think it's a setup anyway, they are going to cave and the pukes will get everything they want.

8. I will gladly take my
3% increase. As Holmes said "taxes are the price we pay for civilization." From this I can only conclude that Republicans are not very civilized.

10. I wish I could K&R your comment!
and also....

When Jesus spoke about taxes...

"And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him."

Why doesn't the GOP respect what Jesus said?

I am willing to let go of my tax cut for the greater good.

14. I'm already in the red so paying more taxes will just hasten the end sooner
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 02:14 PM by lunatica
No big deal at this point. Bad and worse are on the same side anyway. The justice in letting them expire would be that the wealthy wouldn't get tax cuts either.

15. Around $500...not really a big deal, and might be worth it if I didn't have to listen
to any more politicians bullshitting me - from either party.
Pay off the defecit - end the wars and bring ALL US troops home.
