Please criticize the Democrats
Edited on Fri May-25-07 12:53 PM by ProSense
Last thing we need is a lockstep Democratic Party: which version would prevail: Joe Lieberman's, Al From's or Russ Feingold's.

It's my party and I'll criticize them if I want to! That doesn't make me a Republican enabler. There was resistance in trying to hold Lieberman accountable and look where it got us. It's about accountability. When they're wrong, and that's for each voter to decide, they should be criticized.

I wish the more than 70% of Republican voters still hanging on to Bush and his Republican enablers in Congress would miss a step and do the same.

Funny, I don't see these threads popping up when Democrats are being criticized for there position on immigration.

Edited: 33% of voters is U.S. overall. Republicans in lockstep is much higher.

1. When Democrats SOMETIMES act and vote like rethugs...........
'WE' damn well better be criticizing them. Same old, same old never brings change or makes bad situations better.

"Believe in my God and be saved!" vs "Believe in my party and be saved"!

Sorry, I have been sold too many faerie tales. My bookcase is full.

5. Unfortunately there are two kinds of criticizers here
The ones that truly believe in the Democratic party and want to keep it on track.

Then there are the established trolls here who do nothing more than stir the shit every chance they get. It's the latter that pisses me off.

If we don't criticize our leaders when they fuck up then we're no better than the blind loyalists on the right. So while I agree with you, I also realize most of the opinion of the quit criticizing crowd is frustrated with the constant underhanded troll crap that goes on here - that annoys the hell out of me.

9. Well are you just on DU to spew your disgust with the Dem's or are you doing something like
writting your congress critters by snail mial to voice your opinion? Are you making calls to them? Or are you just in DU ranting that they didn't do enough? Myself I take it to them and keep my disgust off line, on line, freepers get ahold of it and use it against us.

14. Fear of
freepers is not a reason to be afraid to speak up. If all that was online was happy talk, that would distort perception. It's the problem Democrats have when the media filters their comments, leaving them on the editing room floor. It's the problem when the MSM resorts to Republican happy talk.

17. I'm not sure why you're questioning me
but I'm not here to bash Dems. If you look at my posts you will see that. I do understand why some vent their frustration though and do not criticize them for doing so.

What bothers me are the ones that only do that - to me it is obvious they are simply stirring up shit.

Since you brought it up another thing that annoys the hell out of me are the sanctimonious posters who because they went to Camp Casey once or had a LTTE printed - accuse everyone else of not doing anything or caring as much as they do. How in the hell does anyone have the knowledge to pull that shit on others? Perhaps many people here simply do not toot their own horn and just do what they can? The constant 'I did this - what did you do?' is beyond annoying.

18. Wasn't trying to question you personally, and if thats how it seemed, sorry
Edited on Fri May-25-07 06:23 PM by mrcheerful
about that. What I was getting at was the fact that unless people are active then they can't blame the Dem's for the way they vote on the floor. I feel the same about union members that trash and bash the union, but never show up for any union meetings, then get upset when the union does a compromise they don't like.

Again sorry if it seemed as if it was anything personal, it wasn't, my back went out and I'm having a rough time sitting so I admit that I made a mistake in how I posted what I wanted to say. Now the vicadin is kicking in and I'm losing my thought's. God I love weather changes.

Edited to add I agree with what you posted and I think I was trying to add to what you were saying.

10. I would say there are critics and attackers,
which is what the trolls usually do. Vehemently going after and renouncing the Democratic Party as whole is not constructive criticism.

7. I think there is a difference between
criticizing Democrats .. and jumping ship because you disagree. My fear if that happens, then our "leaders" will only try to appease people to keep them from leaving, rather than having real honest open debate. For me, that is a major mark of being a Democrat (as opposed to other parties currently).

8. Absolutely
we should criticize the Dem's, they have their elected position because WE chose them to represent US. I criticize my Dem Senator probably to the extent that I have made his staff's "another one from that a**hole" file. Always remember THEY WORK FOR US and when their performance doesn't match our expectations then it time to let them know about it, its called accountability and should be applied liberally.

Some people would choose stagnation over having their boat rocked. I'd say they're on the wrong boat.

13. but be honest about the Democrats you are criticizing
The majority of those who voted for the one supplemental still will vote for a bill containing timetables for withdrawal. Just voting for the supplemental doesn't make those Democrats automatically against withdrawing the troops at the earliest opportunity.
