1. Wow! It sure looks like they are very serious about their anger....
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 09:33 AM by BrklynLiberal
I would not mind if some of that righteous anger made its way across the pond...I AM NOT encouraging the destruction of property or injuring people..but some real outrage would be very welcome. The apathy and deadening complacency play right into the hands of the corporatists. So far, the only "outrage" we have seen lately is from the tbaggers as they did their lemming imitation under the command of the RWingnuts.
I would like to see some intelligent, fact-based outrage by those to the left of center.

2. Could we have some righteous anger without having to
capture it on cell phone cameras? (I'm kidding of course, but to an old-school demonstrator, the cell phones in the photo look out of place...but ah, I am quickly descending into the old-fogey-dom I'd assumed I would NEVER reach).

But the substance of what you and the OP say are right on, we need to take to the streets folks. We need to rattle the cages of the corporate overlords.

3. There's hardly anything sadder to see
than one of us old, curmudgeonly hippies. Unless it's maybe a bunch of us.

I don't give a damn any more what anyone thinks. I get real cranky...

15. I think there are quite a few of us left.
The Bellamy Brothers gave us our anthem.

He turned thirty-five last Sunday
In his hair he found some gray
But he still ain't changed his lifestyle
He likes it better the old way
So he grows a little garden in the back yard by the fence
He's consuming what he's growing nowadays in self defense
He get's out there in the twilight zone
Sometimes when it just don't make no sense

He gets off on country music
Cause disco left him cold
He's got young friends into new wave
But he's just too friggin' old
And he dreams at night of Woodstock and the day John Lennon died
How the music made him happy and the silence made him cry
Yeah he thinks of John sometimes
And he has to wonder why

Chorus:
He's an old hippie and he don't know what to do
Should he hang on to the old
Should he grab on to the new
He's an old hippie...his new life is just a bust
He ain't trying to change nobody

He's just trying real hard to adjust

He was sure back in the sixties that everyone was hip
Then they sent him off to Vietnam on his senior trip
And they forced him to become a man while he was still a boy
And in each wave of tragedy he waited for the joy
Now this world may change around him
But he just can't change no more

Chorus

Well, he stays away a lot now from the parties and the clubs
And he's thinking while he's joggin' 'round
Sure is glad he quit the hard drugs
Cause him and his kind get more endangered everyday
And pretty soon the species will just up and fade away
Like the smoke from that torpedo...just up and fade away

9. Reminds me of "V for Vendetta"!
The super wealthy have apparently pushed too far. Don't forget the riots in France over the raising of the retirement age. I think the tipping point is near.

18. Can't help but notice that in the U.S. whenever an anarchist breaks a window
or commits an act of vandalism, DU is very quick to jump on them. But now it suddenly seems that vandalism and rioting are okay. Does this mean you all have finally figured out what the anarchists have known for more than a decade? That we're in a war for our survival with the world's elite, and it's been long time that we took the gloves off?
