Now that they got the Bush Tax Cuts, what will the GOP take away from Obama next?
From an outside poll:

Is Obama caving in? Or is the GOP a bully in the playground that's out for anything they can get - while making him look bad?

It's curious to us that, even though most Americans want to see these tax cuts make like a tree and just leave, somehow it's Obama who seems to be suffering all of the backlash for this compromise -- and not the GOP who were willing to play chicken with the entire U.S. economy just to get more money for themselves and their friends.

What are they going to take next?

His dog? His Blackberry?

Will they get some people to flip-flop parties in order to take the Senate?

What does the DU community predict?

1. Just to get the ball running...
... I think they're going to figure out a way to suspend Article 2 of the Constitution until 2013.

3. I'm much less angry about this...
... than HCR. In that case, he let the GOP water down his bill even though he should have known that he wouldn't get a single vote out of them. That gave them the power to write the legislation without having to vote for it.

In this case, the Bush Tax Cuts, he had to move quickly and he did what he had to do in a no-win situation. This kind of trade off sucks sometimes, but sometimes it works out great, and in either event a president can't avoid it.

7. Partially agree.
But I think in this matter it was more of a compromise than people are giving either side credit for.

6. It's a good point that...
...Obama's taking the heat for all this. The GOP is what will do anything for a buck, no matter how much it f**ks the country over. :(

8. That's because Obama let the Republicans frame the debate
...and he undermined himself by not including the Democratic leadership. Had he, he never would have called a presser to announce a compromise that was universally rejected by his own party.

How can you not hang the blame on Obama?

15. The GOP is still a bunch of bullies looking out for themselves...
Obama has blame to take. Plenty of it. But he has to get used to the idea that on this playground, the kids are after his lunch money.

17. No reason to believe he's going to learn that lesson
Congress will have to stand up to the Republicans and do all the fighting.

11. HUGE defense increases to ratify the START treaty.

I swear, I think Obama would be far better off to have drawn a line in the sand over the deficit on all this stuff. Insist all paid for.

The way he's going about it he doesn't really get to claim the mantle of being for the little guy OR for fiscal sanity.

dance when they tell him to. There is no Democratic Party any longer.

14. If there's no Dem Party anymore, how do we organize those who don't want to switch to the GOP?
For many, that's certainly not an option. OK, leadership is lacking. Any ideas?

23. We need a Progressive Constitutional Convention. Where we work
with our elected friends, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Progressive_Caucus), and lay out a set of unwavering principles. Universal Health Care, etc. Then commit to electing people committed to those principles.

The New Dem, Blue Dog fiasco was just wolves in sheep's clothing.

16. The Bush tax cuts are bad but not the big issue here. The fact that Obama put Social Security
'in play' is the 800 pound gorilla in the room.

20. He said he just hopes they try again. That NEXT time he will kick ass.
You just wait! Sob! Then you'll see. You'll see that they just better not try anything!

At least, that it what I got from listening to his speech attacking the commie-pinkos in the - Democrat - party.

24. Good point. Sometimes it's easy to forget that we are the people, they're supposed ...
to be accountable to us. But I think as we enter the next Congress, that notion will be lost completely.
