Afghanistan pledges to secure major pipeline
Afghanistan pledges to secure major pipeline
(AFP) – 21 hours ago

KABUL — Afghanistan will deploy up to 7,000 troops to secure a major transnational gas pipeline slated to run through some of the most dangerous parts of the war-torn country, an official said on Sunday.

The pledge comes a day after Turkmenistan signed broad agreements with Afghanistan, India and Pakistan at a summit in its capital Ashgabat on the ambitious venture.

The 1,700-kilometre (1,050-mile) TAPI pipeline, Ashgabat's dream project that first appeared in 1995, has been on hold for many years due to the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.

The pipeline aims to transport over 30 billion cubic metres of gas annually from the Dauletabad gas fields in southeast Turkmenistan and could turn into a cash cow for Afghanistan in transit fees.

"This huge project is very important for Afghanistan," Wahidullah Shahrani, the minister of mines and industries, told a press conference in Kabul.

5. So, where are all those who told us we
were wrong for believing this was the real reason for the war in Afghanistan? It just took a bit longer than they expected.

Unocal and Bush Sr. had meetings with the Taliban in the Summer of 2001. The Taliban refused the offer to build a pipeline.

Robert Sheer reported on those meetings at the time, and then 9/11 happened a few months later and the War in Afghanistan began.

'An offer they shouldn't have refused'. As they were warned. 'We'll give you a carpet of gold' or 'A carpet of bombs'.

The mercenary army we are paying for over there, will be there for ever. Even if the troops come home. They will have to leave some troops because the law only allows the mercenaries in 'support of the U.S. military'. I believe that is why they left some troops in Iraq.

In both countries now, there are more mercenaries than U.S. troops. America's private army and the tax payers pay for it under the false impression that it is 'money for the troops'. These people are traitors.
