Maybe you can help me figure out how to do this: I have a table
that I advertised on Craigslist to sell. Actually it is a kit form of a Queen Anne Tea Table made by Bartley Collection. My husband bought the kit last year to make as a project during the winter. It never happened. He died last June. He paid $549.00 for the kit and I have advertised it for $250.00. There is no way for me to put this table together, therefore the ad.

I have twice received a reply from someone in Texas who says he will buy the table if I can ship it.
I advertised it once before and he replied, I told him I could not ship.
Weeks have passed and I decided to advertise again. He replied immediately that he would buy the table if I could ship it.

My problem is twofold. I want cash, not his check and I have no idea how much it would cost to ship it to Texas. I could bring all the parts and pieces to the UPS store and ask them for a packing and shipping quote I suppose but what a pain in the neck. The customer would have to pay that too and I bet it will be $50.00 to pack and ship.

How do I approach the payment factor? It is not that I don't trust this person, I suppose. The suggestions on Craigslist are quite clear regarding payment. Someone must know a reasonable way to protect me and of course, protect him in this transaction. Any suggestions?

2. I just got another e-mail from this fellow who said if I can get a
price for shipping from the UPS store, he will send me a Postal Money order for the total before I ship. Trusting soul. He is less nervous about this than I am.

I guess I will go and find out how much it would be to ship and see where this leads.

I replied to his inquiry via C/L and was surprised that his next e-mail to me showed my real e-mail address and my husbands name. I thought my reply would go thru C/L. This experience is new to me. I have sold a couple of things before but they went to local buyers and they provided phone numbers for me to call them to set up an appointment.

Thanks for your suggestion, I had forgotten all about PMO's.
