Medvedev: Brazil president's Iran visit may be 'last chance'

I hope that the Brazilian president will succeed," Medvedev said in the Kremlin. "This may be the last chance before sanctions are adopted in the UN Security Council." (AFP)

Medvedev also said that President Lula's visit to Tehran has 30% chance of being successful.

"Since my friend Lula is an optimist, I'll be optimistic: I see a 30% chance," said Medvedev, when asked about the chances of success that the Brazilian president's visit to Iran will have.

1. Interesting details in the Ultimas Noticas article

That Brazil and Russia could dump the U.S. dollar in their mutual commercial trade and use their respective currencies; also that Russia is interested in exploring gas deposits off the Brazilian coast, constructing huge thermal and hydroelectric projects, using Russian communications satellites, shipyard construction, manufacturing ships and planes and so on.

Look like the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India China) have really left the United States out in the cold.

Off topic but Brazil related:

Say it ain't so, but Dunga has left Ronaldinho and Adriano OUT! Any other seleção would give an arm to have those two. But with such an unlimited pool, guess Dunga knows what he is doing.

And to put you in the mood for next month and maybe a little "saudade"

2. Thanks for the beats, rabs!
I used to love the night games at Maracanã with the flags, samba, and chants!

This is the video that brings me all the "saudades" in the world:

About Dunga's choices:

At least Ronaldinho made to the "list of 30" meaning that he has a chance to go to the world cup in case someone gets hurt. I am not wishing harm to anybody on the current list of 23 but I think that bringing Ronaldinho would be nice insurance if Kaká gets hurt. Kaká is the only creative midfielder called up!

Now, as far as Adriano, I think I will agree with Dunga here. Adriano is too problematic off the field and he is out of shape. Brazil is loaded with forwards and I think the 4 forwards going are perfect fit for Dunga's system.

Regardless, I can't wait until June 11th for the World Cup to begin! It will be interesting seeing a different Brazilian team that has a great goalie, a solid defense, and fast counter attacks! And the fact that there are so many great teams that can win the trophy(like Spain, Netherlands, Argentina, etc.) makes this a very interesting World Cup to watch! :-)

3. Russian offshore expertise somewhat lacking
Russians aren't well known for their expertise working offshore. However, if they want to play with the big dogs from Petrobras, I'm sure Petrobras will chew on them :-)
