Anyone heard of this guy ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luca_Prodan

Seems to have been quite a music hero in Argentina. I came across this purely by accident :
GOING UP THE COUNTRY - LUCA PRODAN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdsz5Q7w308

Exactly what the obsession is with quoting Canned Heat defeats me. The original was Henry Thomas , late 1920's, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Qo9R5kDZWY

1.  Never did. His song is worse than Canned Heat's, and I can't believe they didn't acknowledge H.T.
Canned Heat didn't have to do a thing. They just took that song and passed it off as their own. I'll bet everyone who's heard it assumes they created it if they have no knowledge of the real artist.

Luca Prodan is a mystery. I read his brother, Andrea's Wiki, too. Very unusual family history.

Thanks for shedding some light on the real source of a song which was REALLY big in the U.S. when it was released.

Interesting seeing that tv show clip.

Very glad to learn about Henry Thomas. It was downright spooky hearing that exact song, and that flute wafting all the way from the 1920's.

5. I think all of his stuff fits one CD
I bought mine years ago. Most of the tracks seem to be on youtube these days. For track names just search Amazon for one of his Cd's to get the track tiles. He's credited generally in respect that in the absense of his original style many could not have followed.

Found this accident earlier today : http://weeniecampbell.com/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=421&Itemid=127
If you look in the left hand menu you'll see Weenie Juke Radio. That plays country blues non stop I think - all day . You don't neeed to register to use it.
