Hillary and Obama again
I heard this today on Rush. (don't beat me up-it is all I can get on the radio at work and no streaming allowed)

He said it is common knowledge that Obama intends to give Biden a seat on the Supreme Court and pick up Hillary as VP. The goal is to give him a stronger hand in '12. I am sure I heard this. He said it was published in US News and World Reports.

Anyone else hear of this?

3. Foolish, and Prez O and VP B are NOT.
Don't see Joe B on Supremes, tho he could certainly do it. I see no advantage; needs both in active political/people situations.

19. Exactly, but it is the source
It is usually interesting to know the root source of a rumour. Here, the fact that it is USN and RW makes it less likely than if it were a source that the Obama team had favored.

If there were any truth to it, there would be reliable sources involved, not fucking Rush Limpballs.

"Anyone else here of this?" What an awesome tactic to rile folks who know better than to listen to his stupid ass. :eyes:

12. Joe is 67, and practiced law for such a very short time. And he is great where he is, as VP.
And you never change VPs unless the VPs have some kind of major scandal.

14. I agree
Biden was only 29 when elected Senator - turning 30 later that month.

As a VP, he is a knowledgeable foreign policy voice and domestic policy voice. He also is as scandal free as a politician is going to be. The only negative has been that he has had reasonably frequent gaffes. That however is pretty media driven as anything that he says that can be turned into a gaffe is played ad nauseum. In their time in the administration, Hillary Clinton has made as many gaffes, but as that doesn't fit the media meme, there is not the same label. (EVERY politician (or person) who has all their words taped will have gaffes - it is impossible not to.)

13. Just because it was rumored in US News and World Report doesn't make it true
Edited on Tue Feb-09-10 08:49 AM by karynnj
It was printed there ( http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2009/11/24/could-hillary-clinton-replace-biden-as-obamas-vp ), then Cindy Adams, gossip columnist, picked it up and now Rush. Assuming the original source was US News and World Report, ask yourself the following. If Obama were considering this and wanted to float a trial balloon, would he go to neo-con Mort Zuckerman or his magazine? Are they a magazine where any of their writers are likely to be buddies of Obama's inner circle?

I think the answer is "no" and this is a group wanting to stir up submerged echoes of the 2008 primary war.

I really do not think that Constitutional scholar Obama will select Biden for the Supreme Court. I suspect that he would want to be seen as selecting exceptionally qualified jurists, who in spite of ideology, are seen as impeccable choices. I know Biden once held the chair of the Judiciary committee, but I doubt even Democrats see him as someone who should be on the Supreme Court. What he did a good job on while in that position was on things like legislation to deal with violence against women and the COPS bill. Both of which point to his legislative skills, rather than his skills as a jurist. Not to mention, he is 67 years old. So, I really think this part of the rumour is designed just to move Biden out rather than throw him under the bus.

21. This was put out there by Cindy Adams, a gossip columnist.
I think her column is in the NY Post or maybe its the Daily News.

Figures Rush would seize on this - that's about his speed in terms of credibility.

29. It's become a new RW meme, eventually to be picked up by the MSM and rebroadcast as: "Some people...
... are saying..." blah, blah, blah.

Who started it? Might as well ask: who does it serve to spread those kinds of rumors? because you know it serves someone's purpose.

Don't listen to Rush. It rots the brain.

Hekate
