Obama vows healthcare meeting won't become 'political theater'
By Michael O'Brien - 02/09/10 02:11 PM ET

President Barack Obama rejected Tuesday the notion that an upcoming healthcare summit would be little more than "political theater."

Obama said he's hoping to make some substantive progress at a Feb. 25, televised meeting with House and Senate leaders in both parties on healthcare.

"My hope is that this doesn't end up being political theater, as some of your have phrased it," Obama said during a surprise appearance at the White House daily press briefing. "I want a substantive discussion."

The highly-anticipated meeting, which Obama announced during an interview on Sunday, has been the subject of some Republican skepticism.

1. It's serious business to those who want Health Care Reform
passed for the American People. The only ones who want political theater are the regressives who are so bad at it.

3. Maybe not, but it may become a drinking game.
One drink every time a Republican says "government takeover."

9. Republicans
Have called for televising all of the Health Care debate. Since they got publicly trounced by Obama, they are running from open government. It's a win-win for Democrats to televise as much of their attempts at bipartisanship as possible.
