In poll, Republicans gaining political ground on Obama and Democrats
Probably not possible to screw things up more spectacularly than Obama and the Democratic leadership have done over the past 12 months.

In poll, Republicans gaining political ground on Obama

By Dan Balz and Jon Cohen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Republicans have significantly narrowed the gap with Democrats on who is trusted to deal with the country's problems and have sharply reduced several of President Obama's main political advantages, according to a http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/politics/polls/?nid=roll_polls">new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The survey paints a portrait of a restless and dissatisfied electorate at the beginning of a critical election year. More than seven in 10 Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing, and as many say they're inclined to look for new congressional representation as said so in 1994 and 2006, the last times that control of Congress shifted.

Asked how they would vote in the November House elections, Americans split evenly -- 46 percent siding with the Democrats, 46 percent with the Republicans. As recently as four months ago, Democrats held a 51 to 39 percent advantage on this question.

Obama's overall approval rating is holding steady, with 51 percent of respondents giving him positive marks and 46 percent rating him negatively. On the big domestic issues -- the economy, health care, jobs and the federal budget deficit -- bare majorities of Americans disapprove of the job he is doing.

3. Remember that people more likely to respond to hot button polls
are people moved by hot button issues.

Unfortunately the corollary there is WE are less likely to get our asses out to support our own candidates when we're fat dumb and happy wearing our rose colored glasses. . .

Also, we should NEVER have reached across the aisle, period. What we proposed should have been good enough on face value, detail and presentation to convert the moderates all on their own, or it just wasn't good enough to start with.

One of the things people to either side of the "narrow" conciliatory middle want is for OUR candidate to deliver on the ideology that defines our party, not appeasing the middle. That goes for either party.

Strong leaders win, even if they aren't always right - remember the "other side" has an irrational respect for authority ... if it is authoritative.

4. If the economy and the job situation does not improve,
it'll be a bloodbath in November for the Democrats. It's that simple.

People are in a constant state of anxiety. Those who have no jobs are obviously concerned about paying bills, putting food on the table and keeping their homes. Those who do have jobs are afraid to lose them. There's no such thing as job security anymore, not that there has been for years, but it wasn't at the level that we have now. People are suffering and some are at the end of their rope. It's going to be a tough time for incumbents and Democrats in particular since they are the party in charge.

:(

6. With 24/7 MSM blasting that the democrats are
BAD and have caused all the ills in the world in the first year of Obama's administration. And that the Republicans are good and have done nothing to cause this mess, although they are the ones who really ruined this country in the 8 years they were in and in the previous years when they ruled congress and prevented President Clinton from making a lot of decisions that would have helped us more.

But you know a lot of stupid Americans, if they get zonked with rush and drudge, and the Fox noise all day and night they are finally going to believe it. Even denying themselves alleviation of hardships. Cause they think the republicans dumb heads are doing fine. They sit on their a** in congress all day long and vote no no no no to anything and everything that comes along and the democrats side on their heads and let them.

7. Oh look, it's Captain Sunshine
You know, if Obama had a 98% approval rating, you'd manage to hunt down the remaining 2% and post quotes from them. You have NEVER had anything except negative drivel to say about Obama.

Perhaps you liked it better when Bush and Cheny were running things? or maybe you look forward to Miss Wasilla and Guy Smiley winning in 2012?
