Good damn week for Dems !
Edited on Fri Mar-05-10 07:18 AM by RBInMaine
1 - Bunning and the GOP looked like the heartless whackjobs that they are, and they are smacked down on that one. CHUH-CHING!

2 - Obama, surrounded by doctors and other health pros, says go reconciliation and goes full court press on healthcare leaving the GOP scared to DEATH because this WILL likely pass, Dems WILL be credited, and the people overwhelmingly APPROVE of the COMPONENTS of the plan. They KNOW that all Dems have to do is pass it, show that it hasn't caused the end of the world as the GOP claims, and that it is MUCH better than the horrid GOP status quo. They KNOW it is just a START and that more improvements will come. They KNOW if Dems pass it and are able to smash down their lies about it, they are DOOMED in the fall. So another CHUH-CHING for that, and now let's PASS IT and smash down the GOP lies ! (It also proves the GOP can not and WILL NOT obstruct forever. And so much for Obama's "Waterloo.")

3 - Another GOP obstruction was smacked down on this FIRST jobs bill which is also just a start. MORE is coming. Next up is the small business bill, and a climate bill is also on the way. So CHUH-CHING number three !

PISS ON THE GRUMPY OLD POOPHEADS.

6. Don't forget: Steele and the RNC shoot own feet again with racist and sexist attacks on Obama
and Pelosi.

Depiction of Obama as the Joker and Pelosi as Cruella de Ville in PowerPoint for fundraisers.

10. The republican party (including teabaggers and KKK and militia groups) love it, so their base
is probably more energized.

7. 2014: The time when Reform takes effect -- Imagine what happens to Dems until then...
The bill needs serious imporvements because as it stands still causes price hikes and is mandated but even worse is that no of it comes into affect until 2014 allowing the GOP to attack and water down the bill evne more (not sure how that will be possible since it is already a slush deal for industry). The democrats purposely gutted the only thing that can control cost and reduce prices for a desperate public (both democrat and republican): the Public Option. Without it if i were the GOP all i need to say from now to 2014 is MANDATES, MANDATES and allow the expected higher premiums to be blamed on this new "socialized" care -- the industry's stocks have risen 25% this year alone and premiums have spiked as high as 40% for consumers....that is just 2010.

Democrats will lose seats this year but the passage will mitigate any serious damage but lets not delusion ourselves into thinking it will be a grand year for democrats...it wont!

8. No.
Because the "pre-existing condition" BS goes away NOW. Recission goes away NOW. Proving that 85% of the premium dollar goes to actual care takes effect NOW.
IOW, the worst practices of the industry go away at once. That ALONE will give Democrats credit for having ended most of the things causing the immediate grief. Democrats will in their campaign ads and speeches remind the voting public that the GOP stood uniformly AGAINST democratic efforts to solve the problem. The GOP loses.

You base your prediction on a false premise; that no parts of the HCR law take effect until 2014, which is demonstrably untrue.

9. What's more...
These (and more, but I'm up against the cut-and-paste limit)take effect January 1 (2011, since the writer of the post presupposed passage in 2009). Find the rest at http://forums.nurse.com/showthread.php?t=7802

12. Let's see:
Which key constituencies were needlessly alienated this week:

Teachers? Check.

Labor? Check.

Environmental/public health groups? Check.

Human rights groups? Check.

At this rate, the administration had better hope that they're making a whole lot of new friends & allies to replace the ones they're losing- or have already lost.

14. Thank God, because we've been shooting ourselves in the foot at the same time
With Patterson and Rangel, and then the reports that Obama flipped on his stance against military trial for Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

Where's the fucking focus?

Still, if it weren't for the great succeses you mentioned, the also ran news would have dominated, and we would be left sucking eggs all weekend.
