Galvin enters race to succeed Meek
North Miami City Commissioner Scott Galvin joined a crowded Democratic field looking to replace Florida Rep. Kendrick Meek Wednesday. But Galvin has one distinguishing factor from the other 11 candidates already running—he’s the only white candidate running in a district that’s 56 percent African-American and 25 percent Hispanic.

In announcing his campaign to succeed Meek, who’s running for Senate, Galvin released a memo arguing that he could be the beneficiary if the other candidates split support along racial lines in a state where there is no runoff.

Galvin, who is openly gay, has served on the city council since 1999, and is the Vice President of Education for Junior Achievement of Greater Miami.

1. My experience has been that African-Americans and Hispanic people
are not even half as prejudiced as whites are. Again, my experience. Good luck Scott, you may do very well.
