Gallup:47% would advise Obama to increase troops in Afghanistan, 39% would advise to decrease troops
Edited on Sat Nov-28-09 12:04 PM by Jennicut
"Americans over the last two weeks have become slightly more likely to favor sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, and slightly less likely to favor a reduction in forces. At this point, 47% of Americans would advise President Obama to increase the number of U.S. troops -- either by the roughly 40,000 recommended by the commanding general in Afghanistan or by a smaller amount -- while 39% would advise Obama to reduce the number of troops. Another 9% would opt to leave troop levels as they are, while 5% have no opinion."

This just does not seem right to me, what methodology is Gallup using lately to skew these numbers? I think it is more split down the middle.

1. The poll indicates that it's split down the middle, if the issue is a proposed "surge."

9% in favor of keeping troop totals as they are + 39% in favor of decreasing troops = 48% against increasing troops, compared to 47% in favor.

2. Great point! Obviously trying to be sneaky to get a certain viewpoint out there.
Why did I miss that? Thanks.

3. Bush used the word 'Surge' because 'escalation' is too realistic sounding
Lets not put lipstick on it. This is an escalation.
