Joe Biden: "They Smell A Rat"
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2010/03/25/quote_of_the_day.html

Quote of the Day

"The ace we have in our pocket is the Republican party. The Republicans have concluded that their success lies in our failure. The American people are smart. They smell a rat. They know there was nothing about trying to get a better bill."

-- Vice President Joe Biden, quoted by Fox News, on the administration's health care victory.

2. All the RW is claiming they were "never given a chance" to contribute.
Does anyone believe that lie? I mean, there are a lot of things NOT in the law that I'd have liked, but were taken out because of the Dems compromises. If that wasn't "working with the Republicans" what was? Do they really think we're that fucking stupid?

8. They had a chance to contribute on this but chose to
WASHINGTON – Senate Republicans are blocking speedy passage of a stopgap bill to extend jobless benefits, saying its $9 billion cost should not be added to the national debt.

Wonder what they would have done if Dems refused to provide funding for Bush's Wars...come election time we will remember so will Ind's I believe

4. The GOP is so ugly right now...
We're smelling a lot of rat activity!

Someone mentioned Barry Goldwater earlier today... he must be spinning in his grave right about now.

We need more than one viable political party for a democracy to survive. Their suicide does no good for anyone. They need to get back to their roots... they need to remember Barry G.

9. Sure we need more than one party...
...but on the other hand, the Republican Party consciously decided to go all-in on intransigence, willfully lying to the electorate, and stirring up shit. That's what they have done, and the curtain is being pulled back. Had the HCR bill not passed, they could have stood by their own lies, and justified their intransigence and shit-stirring. Now, they will have to back-pedal and say "I didn't say that", or, when confronted with the video evidence, "What I meant was" when the things they said are shown to be untrue.

If that continues to weaken the GOP, so be it. They made their bed, let them lie in it. People will start to benefit from the bill, see how moderate it is, and start to feel had by all the manufactured hysteria. I hope so!

Anyway. Nature abhors a vacuum, and human nature abhors a political vacuum. Should the GOP weaken to the point where it was not a viable opponent for the Democrats, another party would form. Therein lies the potential and the risk -- it could be a more centrist party, allowing the overall political tone to move a bit to the left; or it could be an even wackier right wing party, reminding us all to "Be careful what you wish for!!".

We do live in interesting times.

10. Someone told me recently...
That they thought the GOP would die, and the Democrats would splinter into two or three groups... uber lefties, progressives, financial conservatives/social liberal... if we're lucky, the TeaBaggers will remain strong in their tiny minded way and further splinter the hard core righties.

Interesting times, indeed!

5. We can defeat the Republicans in November
Edited on Thu Mar-25-10 03:54 PM by Bobbieo
by proving to the American people that passing the HCR bill is the best thing that has happened to them in the past 100 years and Obama is proving that - right now.

We, the people. will shut them up!!!!
