Calif. nurses target Whitman
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0610/37995.html

The California Nurses Association is launching an ad this week on Spanish-language radio featuring a clip from the commercial Meg Whitman’s campaign is running that touts her tough stance on illegal immigration and support from former Gov. Pete Wilson.

“Here is the ad about immigrants that Pete Wilson and Meg Whitman don’t want you to hear but your friends at the California Nurses Association think you should,” says a narrator, in Spanish, before the spot splices in the gubernatorial candidate and former governor discussing what she’d do to crack down on the border.

The ad will make its debut on the popular, Los Angeles-based Piolin show on Wednesday and air on Central Valley stations in the week leading up to the June 8 GOP primary between Whitman and Steve Poizner.

In a bit of a gonzo twist, the nurses union plans on sending an actress dressed as “Queen Meg” in a chariot to Wilson’s Southern California home Wednesday to tell him about the ad. The gag visit is part of a larger theme the nurses have been using this spring to draw attention to the former eBay CEO’s wealth and self-financing of her gubernatorial bid.

2. Scapegoating
I am very upset that immigrants are being used to inflame racial hatred which is the basic fuel of conservatives. Meg talks tough but she has no real plan to halt immigration, or any real plans to do anything on her agenda. She just uses right wing talking points to fan the flames of hatred against Hispanics and the poor. The ad the nurses reference is especially disgusting.

As for Pete Wilson, he's the one who deregulated the energy laws that led to the looting by Enron. Gray Davis got blamed for that because he failed to point that out.

3. The California Nurses Association rock
The California Nurses Association is a strong voice that has considerable cross-over appeal to all but the most fanatical white-wing Fundy wackos. Fence sitters understand their passion.

6. I am not sure, but I have seen key races show up in GDP many times before.
And this race is a huge one.

5. The other big theme of the Meg Whitman's ad's are attacks against fellow republican
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 09:59 AM by avaistheone1
contenders for the governor's race who did not support the Bush tax cuts.

Meg's big worry is that the super rich like herself might have to pay more tax dollars.
The wealthy now own damn near everything in this country.
The poor rich folks they are suffering so much. :grr:
