Arianna Huffington vs Liz Cheney about Oil
Arianna appeared as a guest on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, along with Liz Cheney, Markos Moulitsas, and George Will.

Arianna squared off with Cheney over the Gulf oil disaster, calling out the Bush-Cheney administration for its role in fostering the crisis.

"The truth is that right now we have precisely the regulatory system that the Bush-Cheney administration wanted: full of loopholes, full of cronies and lobbyists filling the very agencies that are supposed to be overseeing the industry," Arianna said. "We are seeing this as the inevitable result of what they wanted."

"It is truly amazing," Cheney responded. "I actually heard that George Bush was responsible for the breakup of Tipper and Al Gore's marriage, too. It's incredible, the extent to which people are now trying to shift blame. ... The left -- you guys have for years been demonizing Bush and Cheney, and I'm sure you’ll be demonizing them for years going forward. But we have a catastrophe on the Gulf coast, a catastrophe that happened on this administration's watch, which this administration is failing to clean up."

"We have the poster child of Bush-Cheney crony capitalism, Halliburton, involved in this," Arianna said. "They, after all, were responsible for cementing the well. Here's Halliburton, after it defrauded the American taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars -- "

"I don't know what planet you live on," Cheney shot back. "What you are saying has no relationship to the truth, no relationship to the facts."

"I live on this planet," Arianna said. "Halliburton was involved in this. How can you say there is no relationship?"

2. Liz didn't ever really get around to addressing Arianna's context
about the Bush-Cheney loopholes and poster child Halliburton.

Must have slipped her mind.

3. The only reason she was sent forth and is allowed to spew
out this trash by the media, is to protect her father and bush. She knows damn well it was their policies that caused this and she is trying her best to undermine that fact.

I don't understand why Arianna didn't ask her..."if the policies you father set forth in his energy were not responsible what was, tell us please. What did the present administration do, but not be able because of the republican obstructionist in congress change these rules and regulations fast enough?" Let her try to answer that. I don't understand why all this mealy mouth crap...come right out and lay it on them. Then see what they say.

But it blows me away how much air time Liz gets....as if she has done something in her life that would qualify her.

5. If you watched the full panel closely, you should also have noticeed ...
That Ariana and the liberal guy (his name escapes me) both referred to this as the failure of "Bush/Cheney" administration.

However, each time Liz responded, she only referred to the "Bush" administration.

It seemed like something they planned. Keep tying the "Cheney" name to the mess and make Liz squirm.

6. Arianna states: 'Facts, Names, Dates.' Cheney rebuts: 'Oh yeah?'
Why is Liz Cheney even considered for any serious discussion?

9. With all due respect to Arianna
I think we should be careful about throwing around the "Halliburton was involved in cementing the walls" thing. In the way that I understand the engineering the fault lies primarily with BP.

The lax regulations implemented and fought for by the Bush/Cheney regime is clearly the way to proceed here since this is actually on a solid factual basis.

11. I thought the same thing.
The real points of emphasis should be the deregulation and private agreements made by Cheney in the secret meetings.
