Obama vs Bush Vacation Score This point in Presidency - 70 Days to 225 Days
So Faux, CNN, RNC, TeaBaggers, Beck, Limbaugh and all you other f'in bloviators STFU! At this point Bush had told the 8/6 PDB briefer "Ok you covered you ass". And he continued to take these vacations after 9-11, the war in Afghanistan and on his way to the Iraq debacle!

This is Mr. Obama's 9th vacation since taking office. As of today, he has spent all or part of 38 days on "vacation" away from the White House. He has also made 14 visits to Camp David spanning all or part of 32 days. It brings his total time away to all or part of 70 days.

It's less than the "vacation" time taken during the same period by his immediate predecessor. (Former President George W. Bush gets the quotation marks too.)

As of this point in his 1st term, Mr. Bush had made 14 visits to his Texas ranch spanning all or part of 102 days. He also made 40 visits to Camp David spanning all or part of 123 days. His "vacation" total at this point in his presidency was all or part of 225 days away.

1. Obama has young children, he needs to take vacations with them.
Not that taking vacations is wrong, and the presidency is a stressful job so vacations are in order. But to these people who might see this as an issue, notice how ALL his vacations have been with his children?

8. He wasn't vacationing

And he just made four recess appointments after leaving for this vacation. He works while on "vacation".

9. He went to birthday parties for himself.
So it was called vacation. Were you with him? No President by your definition ever goes on vacation. They all work on vacation. They call get security briefings every morning. So none in the modern era have ever been on vacation by your definition.

3. Huh? I'm saying Obama Not Equal Bush
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 11:10 PM by RamboLiberal
I never saw Bush take this much grief over vacation and he spent a third of his presidency on vacation. The Obamas aren't taking month long vacations. They rarely use Camp David while Bush rarely missed a weekend there if he wasn't in Crawford.

Yet the RW and the damn bloviators are hammering Obama on this and the MSM are tagging right along. RNC probably added the minature golf game he played with wife and daughter last week to his off playing golf score.

7. He has vacationed less than Bush but a little more than Clinton
Although I doubt Bill Clinton would consider his family jaunt to Martha's Vineyard in 1998 to be a vacation. It came after this:

Awk-ward.
