Times a wastin' folks
Here it is September already and the midterms are just around the corner. No time for Democrats to be sitting around wasting the precious few days left till November. Now is the time to roll out those new products, as a Republican once reminded us.

Get out there and volunteer if you can or at least spread the word through your friends and family. GOTV starts now, we cannot wait for November.

In the words of "Old Blue Eyes":

Oh, it's a long, long while from May to December
But the days grow short when you reach September
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time for the waiting game

Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious few
September, November
And these few precious days I'll spend with you
These precious days I'll spend with you

Spend these precious few days working to keep America on a steady Progressive pace.

5. Exactly
We're falling off a cliff and the complaint is that we aren't moving forward fast enough.

2. "Steady Progressive pace." LOL
Yes, my "progressive" Dem candidate for Senate is in favor of extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich. How progressive is that?

Sorry, but given the Dem's track record over the past few years they'll be lucky to get my vote, much less getting my time or money.

...winning elections and such. Progressives know that's a trap.

Obama's election, and the struggle to preserve Democratic majorities, represent a step in the wrong direction. People overlook the vital importance to Democrats of losing general elections.

Look at the Republicans in Congress. They have party discipline. We don't. They have a unified vision, we don't. They narrowly focus on a few readily identifiable values, we don't. They have, above all, coherent messaging. We don't.

They have all that, though, only thanks to decades out of power, the mid 30's to the mid '90's. We must do likewise.

Reduction of the bag of cats that presently calls itself the "Democratic Party" down to a cold, hard, small, disciplined, real Democratic party is the only thing that will save the country.

We can't achieve that till we've done what Republicans are doing: freeing the party from distractions and encumbrances like winning elections, or having a majority, or passing legislation, or governing. You don't see Republicans bothering with stuff like that. They know that that's the path towards nothing but muddle, compromise, and failure. They know what politics is really all about -- carving out a maximalist position, and then throwing everyone who doesn't toe the line overboard.

Oh, sure, people will carp, and point out that during all this real people will suffer real pain that could otherwise be averted. Pay them no heed -- they're just Rahmist compromise junkies, corporatist tools, or worst of all, sensibles.

I am sure if we explain to the victims properly our goals, when they see how wonderfully progressive things will be in the future, they will understand the necessity of their sacrifice today

Some day, when the real progressives can finally take power, we can recognize their sacrifice. A memorial, something tasteful, and not too grandiose, like that WWII monstrosity, but still on the Mall. Or a commemorative stamp... we could have Banksey do it; think, how cool that would be?
