we're screwed...
*** But the Bush card might not work: But the poll also finds that the Bush attack -- “You cannot have the keys to the car back,” as President Obama likes to say. “You drove it into the ditch” -- might not deliver the punch it did in 2006 or 2008. In the survey, 58% believe that Republicans, if they take back control of Congress, will have different ideas than Bush’s, versus 35% who think they will return to Bush’s policies. “That’s going to be a good deal more difficult to make stick,” says NBC/WSJ co-pollster Bill McInturff (R). Yet Peter Hart (D) counters that Democrats still have to make the argument. “As much as the Republicans have going for them, that’s as good of a post-up as Democrats have.”

3. How can the Dem Party messaging, esp. against The Party of No
be so dilute, so fragmented almost to the point of non-existence?

Yet the latest speech has some here all fired up -- but they're not the ones needing convincing!
What about the rest of the country?

Has the Center/Center Right/DLC of the Democratic Party, throwing in their lot with the Reich Wing & Conservatives by excoriating the Left and making them the scapegoat (hence this attempt to distance themselves from the hated Libruls)
helped their 'own brand', since they've apparently split the left off as 'the other'?
(Big Tent? What Big Tent?)

THOSE messaging attempts seem quite clear, at the least they have certainly gotten their share of press time; so I'm back to my initial question: Why is the messaging --which should be quite fruitful-- against the GOP such a failure?

I know the shallow answer: the Party thinks somehow eating it's own will be more rewarding than focusing more on criticism of the GOP -- but I'm looking for the logic in this modality of thought (I dare not yet call it logic)

4. McCain should have won in 2008.
I am sorry to say that there needed to be a true depression to cleanse the system of the cheap/bad debt that has accumulated since Reagan's time.
Sure it would have scarred many, but for too many, a scar is the only thing that makes them remember the horrors of the past.
America is addicted to a drug called cheap debt, by bailing out the corporate world, more of that drug was given.
You never give a drug addicted patient more of that drug. You need to get them off of that drug. Obama gave the people
an out by bailing out the corporate world and the people are still not happy. They should be taking to the streets to demand a better life for themselves and families. This is generational struggle. Instead, the people whine and cry things are not moving fast enough. There is nothing much that can be done to replace those jobs that were lost during Bush's tenure.

5. Here's the key
In the survey, 58% believe that Republicans, if they take back control of Congress, will have different ideas than Bush’s, versus 35% who think they will return to Bush’s policies.

Play clips of them in their own words say what they will do. Things like retaining the BUSH's budget-busting tax cuts for the richest, privatize Social Security, repeal new banking regulations...

6. Bush didn't have any ideas
Bush was a PUF - Puppet Up Front

He was just the mouthpiece for the true policy makers behind the Republican Party.

Bush is gone, but the power controlling the Republicans is still there.

The only difference in Congress under current Republican control is that it would be much worse.
