PPP Survey: California down on Pelosi
California Down on Pelosi

If there was any question Nancy Pelosi's a liability for Democrats across the country this should put it to rest- even in California voters have an unfavorable opinion of her and would like to see her replaced as Speaker.

Only 38% of voters in the state have a favorable opinion of her while 48% view her unfavorably. Independents see her negatively by a more than 2:1 margin, 62/27. And Republicans (87%) are considerably more unified in their dislike of her than Democrats (62%) are in seeing her positively.

We found yesterday that Californians were planning to vote Democratic for Congress this fall by a 51-38 margin. But when it comes to keeping Pelosi as Speaker those numbers pretty much reverse with only 38% of voters saying they'd like her to continue while 50% think it's time for her to be replaced.

Running against Pelosi wasn't an effective strategy for Republican candidates in 2008 but if voters in her home state don't even want her continue as Speaker it's hard to imagine there's much of anywhere in the country where folks do want her to.

2. That doesn't make any sense to me...
there's this repuke candidate for Congress here in NY that's running constant ads against the incumbant blue dog and making Pelosi the worst person in the world..as in.."He votes with Pelosi:scared: even though he voted no against HCR.

3. Nobody likes the Speaker of the House, pretty much ever.
It's an intensely partisan position, and the public is notoriously hostile toward Congress as an institution.

Thats the only kind that gets anything done.

I like Nancy, but she's a compromiser when things get tough.

5. The saddest thing is that Nancy Pelosi is the most unappreciated leader in the game today.
Forget Obama. Pelosi made the hard decisions. She worked hard to get the votes. And now what does she get in return? A possible defeat as Speaker.

It's simply unfair.

7. Since she takes no crap and gets things done the republicans
definitely don't like her. And again we have to look at the campaign that fox and the right wing trash mouths run against her. Look at how they constantly slurred and flamed Hillary Clinton. Guess republicans, as per usual don't like smart intelligent and kick ass women. We see the type of dim bulbs and ditz heads they like. By the way they don't like intelligent men either, gee wonder if that is why they don't like Democrats. Since republicans lead the dumb parade I guess they don't like any body that's smart....

of people who want her replaced couldn't tell you why specifically. Also the traitorous blue poodles don't help matters any.

On the other hand maybe she shouldn't have taken certain things "off the table".

10. Even the people of very blue California are swayed by constant demonization of Pelosi and no media
pushback. The R's hate her because she is so effective. The people of California are obviously ill uninformed-like most of the rest of this country.

But, that's what comes from corporatemedia and the "hammering" of constant anti Pelosi ads.

13. Pelosi has been an excellent Speaker, she's accomplished so much. It's just too bad that
everything goes to the Senate to die.
