Congratulations to Nancy Pelosi and (real) House Dems
for passing a bill to extend middle class tax cuts permanently. Now how can Reid get it thru the Senate?

1. Did it actually pass now?
Or did they not do the final vote yet?

2. Well...
Listening to the senate republicans I don't think they will be voting for it! Of course some could change their mind if it comes to a vote, but all I hear is the same old BS coming from the right about how taxes for the rich "have" to be done, and if not "business" will not be able to hire people, which is the same old BS they have been saying even though the fact show these tax cuts will NOT increase jobs! No matter what happen we need to get all the republicans on record so it can be used over and over to show just WHO the republicans are working for, the rich and the big corporations!

6. They need to force those fuggers to go on the record and vote against 98% of this country. Go Reid!

5. LA Times is calling it a symbolic vote, likely to fail in the Senate.

Their breaking email note -

The House of Representatives has passed a measure to keep lowered tax rates for individuals earning less than $250,000 a year.

The vote -- 234 to 188 -- in Congress' lame duck session was a largely symbolic one boosted by Democrats, still in the majority, who sought to force Republicans to vote against a tax cut. Republicans, who want an extension of the lower rates at all income levels, framed the vote as one that would raise taxes on small-business owners who create jobs.

7. Twenty Democrats broke with their party , many lost reelection bid

(snip)
Twenty Democrats broke with their party and voted against the bill after 33 had defected in a previous test vote. Most of those who voted with Republicans on the first ballot were members of the centrist Blue Dog Coalition, and many lost their bids to be reelected last month.

8. Are "real" Democrats, the same as "real" Ameicans?
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 06:46 PM by Phx_Dem
Just because you (and usually I) don't agree with them, doesn't make them lesser Democrats. Some Dems are elected in converative areas. They are more conservative as are the people they represent and who elected them, but they're still Democrats.

For being the party of tolerance, we sure have alot of intolerant people. And it seems the further left they are the less tolerant they are of people in their own party who may have a different opinion. Sad.
