It's the ENVIRONMENT, IDIOTS!
You can't have an economy on a dead planet...

You're NOT going to be able to "grow your way" out of this one!

Humans have already overshot the carrying capacity of the Earth!

"August 21st marks an unfortunate milestone: the day in which we exhaust our ecological budget for the year. Once we pass this day, humanity will have demanded all the ecological services – from filtering CO2 to producing the raw materials for food – that nature can provide this year. From that point until the end of the year, we meet our ecological demand by liquidating resource stocks and accumulating carbon dioxide in the atmosphere."

You can pretend that Obama and the execrable minions of the corpos in the government have any real power but...

The truth is you can't ignore the laws of physics...

Toward the end of the last century humans began consuming muscle tissue since there WAS NO MORE FAT LEFT TO CONSUME...!!!

So no matter what fiddling with details the major offenders do in their halls of "government", Mother Nature bats last...

1. Well. Any day where I have only been called an idiot once is a good day.
But the day is young.

2. I recall reading an article by a bunch of scientists who said we'd reached...
...the maximum sustainable population back in the 1960s, in terms of resource management.

3. That may have been the estimate before Peak Oil became obvious
In terms of a the number of people who can be living at a decent quality of life...

While still allowing the Earth to regenerate and renew...

The current best estimate is just under 2 billion persons...

We've gone a little beyond that...thanks to the brief heroin fix of cheap fossil fuels...

We CAN'T "grow our way" out of this one...

4. Recently saw a RW idiot calling people who are concerned about the
environment "ecoterrorists"...I thought that was remarkably stupid, even for a rightwinger...do they live somewhere else?

5. There are those that might listen if they weren't called an idiot off the bat.

Next time, with less feeling,

and on the subject of physics, it's really space rocks that have our number, nothing against our man-made problems. One of these things hit, and it won't really matter
