What Is The Half-Time Score
Edited on Thu Dec-30-10 07:12 PM by WiffenPoof
Tweety is doing something pretty interesting. He is asking his panel what the half-time score is on President Obama's first four year term.

Using a football score, where is Team Obama vs. The Republicans as they go into the locker room at half-time?

I have the score tied at 14 all.

While Team Obama has turned the ball over a couple of times, there is little doubt that he has scored well on a couple of issues.

What is your score? This could be fun AND interesting.

1. 28-10, given Lindsey Graham's comments that we have "Eaten their lunch"
and the passage of some monumental historic legislation that never before in 80 years has even gotten out of committee plus todays "in your face" recess appoitments, Looks like quite a few scores by team Obama, with a late 2nd quarter touchdown by team Boehner.

4. One of the Commentators...
had a similar score of 56 to 35.

A football score like this says a lot. It says that it is a high-scoring game but a huge lead for Obama.

5. I'd call it a tie at, maybe, 21 to 21. BUT---
We had 14 players on the field to their 10; we got to call all of the plays; we had the crowd on our side AND we had Moe Mentum on our side.

And, all we managed was a tie.

The second half is about to start and much of the crowd is heading for the exits.

But, the cheerleaders are still on the sidelines---"Yay---TEAM!"

12. In what game scenario would a 21-all tie at the half
have people going for the exits--except for the ones who didn't want to be there anyway?

8. Nah 13-7 Obama/Dems ....
Stimulus (and the NON-depression we've been spared): field goal

Health care bill: touchdown and extra point.

Mid terms: TD and extra point (for the GOP)

Lame Duck: field goal, Obama

13 pts Obama, 7 for the GOP (who play REALLY dirty like the Vols did tonight!) .... Obama could have scored more, but GOP is controlling the game clock.

And of course, a large number of arm chair quaterbacks, telling the QB what an "idiot" they think he is, but who are not actually PLAYING the game.

9. Republicans 28, Obama 20 at the half......in a high scoring affair
It was 21-17 for the Republicans immediately after the election. The tax deal added another 7 points for the Republicans and Obama scored an additional field goal with the lame duck session.

Still a one possession game.

Stunning two year for Obama, tarnished only by the stubborn unemployment and the stupidity of the voters in November.

11. GOP 55, Obama 19
Obama gets 7 for ending Don't Ask, Don't Tell, 3 for the original stimulus, 3 for TARP, 3 for watered down Wall Street reform, and 3 for the watered down surrender to the insurance companies, PhRMA and Hospital chains.

The GOP gets 7 for stopping every Democratic initiative they could, 7 for constantly controlling the message, 7 for the Citizens United Decision, 7 for stopping the Dream Act, 7 for stopping the Employee Free Choice Act, 7 for extending the Bush Tax Cuts for the rich, 7 for laying the groundwork to gut Social Security and 6 for getting the House back

14. Those are some mighty high numbers for football.
Did you mean that american imitation of rugby, which only occasionally uses, uhm, feet on a ball?

(Somebody had to do it.)

16. 77 Obama - 2 Republicans. Breakdown as follows . . .
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 05:06 PM by Phx_Dem
I gave Obama a 7 pt. touchdown/extra point for every one of the following MAJOR accomplishments. The Republicans get a 2 point field goal(?) for a 2-year extention of a 2 percent tax cut for the rich. It's not a touchdown because they gave up so much to get so little.

Extending SCHIP . . . . TOUCHDOWN!
2 Supreme Court Justices . . . TOUCHDOWN!
Passing American Recovery Act . . . TOUCHDOWN!
Health Care Reform . . . TOUCHDOWN!!!!!
Financial Reform . . . TOUCHDOWN!!
Saved GM . . . TOUCHDOWN!!!!
High speed rail plans ('bout fucking time!) . . . TOUCHDOWN!
Tax cuts/2nd Stimulus . . . TOUCHDOWN!
Repealed DADT . . . TOUCHDOWN!!!!
Signed, ratified START Treaty with Russia . . . TOUCHDOWN!
Recovered and secured 111 lbs of highly enriched uraium from Ukraine . . . TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!

Edited to give the Obstructionist Party a touchdown for taking control of the House. But they also get a 3 pt. penalty for interring (or saying outright) that the President is a threat to our security, a muslim and/or not a citizen. They should get additional penalties for their obstructionlist tactics and putting party above country, but I'll be generous.

Final Half-time Score: 77 Obama - 6 Republicans.

taking control of the House, but they also get a 3 pt. penalty for unsportsmanlike behavior for inferring (or saying outright) that the President of the United States is a threat to our security, a muslim and/or not a citizen of this country.

They still got their asses wup'd.

Final halftime score: 77- 6
