Michigan Lawmakers Broaden Emergency Managers' Powers
(03-15) 14:27 PDT Lansing, Mich. (AP) --

Emergency managers appointed by the state of Michigan to oversee the finances of struggling cities and schools would get the power to terminate union contracts under a measure approved by the Legislature.

The Republican-led House gave final approval to the bill Tuesday, sending it to GOP Gov. Rick Snyder.

The bill broadens the powers of the managers, setting up more triggers allowing the state to review the finances of school districts and local governments.

3. No the voters
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 05:12 PM by mstinamotorcity
who sat at home november 2010 gave them approval. They are only doing what they said. The ones who voted for him believed that somehow they were going to go untouched by republican wrath because they were republican. Found out they were not the kind of republicans that republicans like. They like the middle class ones that make over a million dollars a year. And they are not rich unless they have seven million or better. Sorry michigan but well I said i wasn't going to say it.

4. There's more to it than just killing unions.
This about privatizing municipal assets. Let the selloff begin. The repigs struck down the part that put limits on what the "manager" can be paid. The same thing is happening in every state that elected a teabagging, Koch Bros. funded candidate. Guess who will benefit?
