Lobbyist working in D.C to overturn Pakistan's damaged image with America
Edited on Mon May-09-11 12:22 PM by Hutzpa
The lobbying firm Locke Lord is fervently lobbying on behalf of Pakistan to prevent further
embarrassment to a nation that America sees as either incompetent or involved in providing
safe haven for Bin Laden.

Siegel is a former assistant to the president in the Carter White House and was chief of staff to Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., from 2001 to 2004. Other Locke Lord lobbyists working the Pakistan account also have congressional experience. Phil Rivers is a former chief of staff to Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., a Senate Appropriations Committee member. Brian Heindl was a top aide to Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., also a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

In an interview, Siegel said there is no evidence that President Asif Ali Zardari's civilian government knew of bin Laden's whereabouts. Cutting aid and military support to Pakistan would only weaken the relationship between Washington and Islamabad, leaving Pakistan less able to combat terrorism, he said.

The team is led by former aid to Jimmy Carter, but what I find disturbing is the fact that this firm
is lobbying against their own country, they are defending a country that has proven to be untrustworthy
as in the case of them outing the lead CIA agent over the weekend to prove a point to the United
States which according to my estimate is a crime.

Are People so desperate for money that they can't make appropriate decision as to what they can defend? Why
would anyone want to defend such a country at such a crucial time is beyond me. WHO ARE THE REAL TERRORIST?
Is it the lobbying firm such as Locke Lord and others like it or people blowing things up, I say both because
both have their hidden agenda which is to disrupt as much as they can while at the same time create hardship
for working people.

This lobbying firm would rather see the continuation of billions of tax payers funds being transferred over to
Pakistan for their benefits while disregarding completely the risk involved in supporting a nation that has proven
to be untrustworthy. I have a feeling that the dangling of nuclear weapons in the face of the United States
can be seen as a blackmail.

We are our own worst enemy.

1. Pakistan is a country torn in half by ideology
The government is literally two sides that war.

2. Yes, and lobbying on behalf of a country torn between two sides
is at best irresponsible and at worst extremely dangerous.

3. Citizens that lobby on behalf of a country to receive funding
should have a different tax bracket. Instead of 10% it should be 15%, instead of 15% it should be 25%, instead of 25% it should be 28%, instead of 28% it should be 33%, instead of 33% it should be 35%, and instead of 35% it should be 55%.
