I am looking ahead to the 2012 post-primary elections, and I see a problem that Democratic activists ought to start working on now.
I suspect that there will be a lot of angry voters out there who are going to be infuriated with the Republican Party and the Tea Party in particular.
Unfortunately, many of those same voters are also likely to be infuriated with President Obama, so infuriated that they'll vote for someone like Michelle Bachmann or Rick Perry to punish Obama.
We need to point out something ugly and obvious. If voters sweep out Tea Party and Republican politicians in Congress and elect (G*d have mercy on us and Saints deliver us from such!) Rick Perry or Michelle Bachmann, those Tea Party pols aren't going to be returning to private life. They're as likely as not going to return as political appointees in a Michelle Bachmann or Rick Perry presidential administration. We need to point out to that sort of voter that if they want to do a sweep of those Teab@gger politicians from power, they ALSO need to see to it that those same politicians don't have a post-defeat "resurrection" working for Bachmann, Perry, or whoever the Republicans nominate.
We might not reach those fuzzy-minded voters, but it's worth a try.
