In August 1983, with a 9.5% unemployment rate, Reagan went on a 25-day vacation on his ranch
According to Chris Matthews.

Of course, the right wing screamed and yelled and complained and accused President Reagan of being a slacker, as they are doing in response to President Obama's 9-day vacation.

Oh, wait a minute. No they didn't.

Never mind . . .

1. As a rule, Democratic lawmakers NEVER complain when Republican presidents take vacation.

In further news, grown-ups don't whine like bratty assholes.

3. Reagan was drifting toward the attack on US barracks in Lebanon
and also esteem recovery operation--the Invasion of Grenada

Let's hope that our current President isn't looking for yet another conflict.

4. Honestly, that doesn't bother me.
Presidents can get away as often as they please. It's an extremely stressful job. And they're never really off of it, even on vacation.

This hypocrisy pisses me off though.

5. I"m with you. I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM with a President going on vacation as often
as he needs to (within reason, of course). There really is no such thing as a real "vacation" for a President - when I go on vacation, I don't take my entire staff, work several hours a day and issue daily reports to my bosses on what I did all day long. For a President, a vacation is really just working in a different, more relaxed environment for fewer hours in the day than normal.

Like you, it's the hypocrisy that I question.
