2. He'd be proud. It's a step in the direction we need to be going. The second step needs to be
taken after this.

6. No one knows
All we know is what he did do in the past. He fought against Nixon's piece of shit mandated and subsidized private insurance system decade ago, and I admire him greatly for that.

Now its time to twist reality, use quotes or misquotes, etc, to try and attempt to make us think he would be smiling down on us today, because we are so uncertain about the state of the reform that we need imaginary reassurance.

9. he'd vote and support this bill
thought in all honesty, if he were still alive, this would probably be a much better bill overall if he was at the negotiating table.

14. I think he'd be disheartened with the American people -
I mean how many brothers have to die to yield the kind of progress made of the military industrial complex, lack of progress in offering a hand up to the extremely poor, poor, working poor of third world nations, and our nation, who are all controlled by a bunch of bankers and corporatists?

Of course, he'd never say this in public.

15. According to lifelong friend, John Kerry
“This is a big step towards finally making affordable accessible health care a reality for every American,” said Sen. Kerry. “It took 60 votes, it took the commitment of a Senate willing to put itself on the line and a White House committed to getting there, but what’s most important is that it happened. One thing I’m confident of, Ted Kennedy is up there smiling this morning because the man who spent his life working and leading and fighting on health care has seen his life’s work come closer to completion than ever before.”

And his wife says he'd be thrilled as well.

21. I think his approval is overrated. This deal is worse than any he refused before
He might go along to get along this time but I have a hard time conclusively believing that in light of past performance and the weakness of this piece of crap.

This is certainly not what Teddy had in mind at all and I don't think its too cool to use him as a prop, a whip, or a carrot among liberal Democrats to coax them into supporting one of the most compromised efforts ever.

I can accept that he may well have seen this as the best we can do at the moment, a tiny step forward, or some such but the talk of this being the culmination of his work and all that tripe about how happy he'd be with this is bullshit and I don't care if it comes from Vicky, Kerry, or his kids.
