I noticed a question below regarding "calling out" DUers.
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 03:04 AM by HuckleB
The question referred to an OP that called out "anti-vaxer" that had been locked, and this is within DU rules.

Oddly, referring to pro-science/non anti-vaxers as anti-safety did not garner the same result of locking the thread, despite at least two posters hitting the alert button, LONG before the thread was finally locked for being a flame war. Of course, it wasn't a flame war. It was a conspiracy theorist pushing a dangerous conspiracy at DU.

See: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=222&topic_id=97800&mesg_id=97800

Please stop conspiracy theorists from abusing the boards. I sincerely apologize for asking so many related questions, but this has become a serious issue at DU. I suspect DU administration won't agree with that, but I must ask it to consider my serious concerns.

I know I have made many mistakes as a poster... yet...

Thank you.

1. I don't know what this other thread is that you are referring to, so I can't compare the two.
And I also don't put much stock in comparisons of how long it takes moderators to deal with one post versus another.

FWIW, I don't think people should be using those types of rude names for anyone. But sometimes they slip through.

2. It's not about length of time, in this case.
The thread that used the "anti-safety" slur remained open after the alert button had been used over several days. Further, I don't think I am the only person who alerted on that thread.
