1. No...
When you bookmark something it is stored on your Bookmarks page (available by clicking the "My DU" link at the top of the page). Permalink just provides you with a shortcut if you want to grab the URL of a page. You can either right-click the link and select "Copy link location" or click the link and then copy the URL from your address bar.

Hope that makes sense.

maybe I should have asked "how do I bookmark something". Can it be done from a smartphone?

P.S. Nevermind. Answered my own question. Don't know how I missed the "bookmark" icon.

3. There's a small link at the top left of each thread
which says "Bookmark this thread." It can be done from a smartphone, if you have tiny fingers ;)
