Question about GOP Ad

There is an advertisement "paid for by Friends of Herman Cain, Inc." showing up, on the very same page where I was accused of not being progressive. A little bit of irony, I think.

Why are these kind of ads, for a Republican candidate, even on DU?

1. That's because

Google serves ads based on keywords that it finds on pages. So if a lot of people are talking about Herman Cain, you're more likely to see ads about Herman Cain.

We don't pre-screen Google ads. We can block them after the fact if we know the URL they are pointing to. But to be honest, we don't really mind if some big-shot Republican wants to waste his money advertising to people who will never vote for him in a million years.
