I have seen this posted over and over. In the situation room, the president and the national security staff were watching a live feed of Panetta telling them what he was hearing.

I *have* seen it reported that it was a split screen that showed an infrared overhead video of the compound from a drone or satellite, but no video of the operation itself from the ground.

2. That's not what the CNN article says

Despite the headline. The relevant passage is this:

The White House and Central Intelligence Agency didn't have access to a live audio feed, but they were able to tap other communications, a U.S. official told CNN. There was some live video, though the official declined to elaborate on the nature of that footage.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the CIA had led the bin Laden attack operation, and officials on the 7th floor of the agency's Langley, Virginia, headquarters had access to live video of the raid, the report said.

Brennan declined to say whether they had access to a video feed or radio communications. A White House spokesman declined to comment.

Google, Apple and other Internet companies have mastered the process of streaming live video from events to the world. But that task would get much trickier if the cameramen are also carrying rifles and broadcasting from an untested, faraway locale.

Update: Also, this:

President Barack Obama is understood to have seen real-time footage of the approach to the compound but no direct video feed from the operation itself.

the zdnet article speculates on what tech it could have been.
So in short, we don't know (for security reasons) exactly what they were seeing.

Who has been told that the atomic blasts outside their small towns in Vegas on the Utah flats are not releasing any deadly radioactive material. And now many in those towns have cancer or have died.

Who was told that it was a single lone and crazed gunman, though twelve years later the Zapruder film makes that a lie as well.

Surveys show that sixty seven percent of all New Yorkers do not accept in total the "official" tale of what happened on Nine Eleven.


Many of us believe very little at all.

If I can't see it myself, I might entertain the thought that what the media is feeding me is the truth, but I no longer totally believe anything I don't personally witness.

Geithner should be tried on RICO for all the special arrangements he made while he was the head of the New York Fed Reserve. And I doubt that activity stopped once he became the head of US Treasury.

The backroom deals that allow the health care industry to be the only industry where one group of people can be charged one amount for a procedure, while another group is charged a different amount (depending on insurance provider, insurance status etc) -- that sort of pricing game is illegal for every single industry EXCEPT the damn medical industry. Plus those in that industry can and do charge whatever they want to charge.

Even so, New Jersey recently undertook the unusual activity of indicting several hospitals and/or medical providers for excessive charges. One doctor had charged a single patient over 30K for a twenty minute bedside "consult."

I am, of course, not holding my breath.

In fact, the day I woke up, turned on DU, and saw all these headlines of OP's about "Birthers" gave me chills. I really freaked out! Because I thought that there was some new Neo-RW group of people that were demanding that all the women in the country all start giving birth. No matter what!

Being sixty years old and female, I was pretty relieved to find out my paranoia had gone over board and it was just these crazies being concerned about where Obama was born.
